papajoe222 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Not that I needed another rod, but I got a deal on an older St.Croix Mojo Bass 7ft. jig and worm rod. I was pleasantly surprised at the sensitivity and the action of this rod. I’m guessing this rod is maybe eight years old. Does anyone know what blank they used to make that rod? 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 26, 2023 Super User Posted September 26, 2023 If it's the MJC71MHF, I think those were advertised a being the SCIII graphite blank. (same as the new ones, although 'the engineering' might be different now) Some even older Mojo sticks might have been SCII. Not 100 % on that though. Either way, Congrats on the new rod. A-Jay Quote
Super User Solution Scott F Posted September 26, 2023 Super User Solution Posted September 26, 2023 You can see the date of manufacture by the serial #. The first letter of the serial number stands for the year: A = 2001; B = 2002; C = 2003; D = 2004; E = 2005; F = 2006; G = 2007; and so on. The second letter of the Serial Number stands for the month: A = Jan; B = Feb; C = Mar; D = Apr; E = May; F = Jun; G = Jul: H = Aug; I = Sep; J = Oct; K = Nov; L = Dec The remaining numbers are for St. Croix's internal use. 1 Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Thanks guys. It's a MBC70MHF made in June of 2010 and the blank is an SC ll. I contacted the guy I purchased it from and he has a MBC66MHF Jig and worm and a MBC70MHM Crankin rod. Offered both for $50. Couldn't pass that up. I know the Jig and Worm rod will get plenty of use as the Quantum Tournament I've been using has good sensitivity, but a stiff tip section and I like to throw smaller worms with light weights at times. r83srock Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 The first gen mojo was introduced in 2009, I actually got my hands on one in 2008 before release, and wore that thing out! It was a 6’6” jignworm. These rods were some of the first rods made in St Croixs Mexico plant. A lot of rods in that $100 range were introduced during the heart of the recession, and anglers got a lot of bang for the buck, especially with these. These were made up until 2016 with the 2nd generation mojo using sc3 graphite. 1 Quote
