JackstrawIII Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 The subtle “tink” sound of breaking line. Sounds like a gunshot in that moment. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted September 26, 2023 Super User Posted September 26, 2023 I hate the sound braid makes when it rubs hard against the guides. Sounds like an evil violin. I hate that sound on TV and I hate that sound from the angler next to me. But if it’s my rod, shoot… That’s music to my ears. ?? 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted September 26, 2023 Super User Posted September 26, 2023 For me it is music on the water. People cranking tunes while fishing. I escaped society to get into nature for a few hours, not listen to radio. Especially when it is calm ... and the sound just carries ... across the water.... 4 hours ago, AlabamaSpothunter said: When a Beaver slaps the water with the force of a thousand tsunamis in the middle of the night I have experienced this just as the sun rises. I had a beaver swim under my canoe once in gin clear, shallow water in northwestern Ontario. I was shocked at its size. I agree about music. Isn't being on the water enough? Why turn the outside into the inside? 1 Quote

fishhugger Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 people BLARING music, with no or little consideration for people who don't want to hear their awful distorted so-called music. i just pack up and move or leave. 3 Quote

Sorry for hijacking the thread....but our local movie theater uses a leaf blower to tidy up the floor between shows. They just use the blower to blow all the popcorn, drink cups, candy wrappers, etc. to the main aisles, then pick them up from there. Pretty cleaver idea if you ask me. Of course, they do a complete cleaning at the end of the night. 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted September 27, 2023 Global Moderator Posted September 27, 2023 I thought y’all might find this funny i was fishing in my canoe one time right before dark and listening to classic country music on my Bluetooth speaker. This jon boat was coming near me so I turned it down a little. Then he starts fishing a little closer and I’m like dang what’s going on here. I asked him if he was having any luck and he said no I was just trying to get closer so I could hear Hank! 2 7 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted September 27, 2023 Super User Posted September 27, 2023 My pedal drive on my Hobie has started to squeak and squeal and I hate it. I hate it a lot. Think it's got something with me trying to pedal through copious amounts of hydrilla 2 Quote

pdxfisher Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 The woosh of a rod unloading when a big fish becomes unhooked. I have heard that sound too many times this year Quote
Pat Brown Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 'Im snagged, dad' is pretty high up there. Prop crunching into something. Actually not fond of the sound of a large bass splashing around on the surface on the end of my line. Lost plenty when they're doing that. Also caught plenty. It's stressful to say the least when they waller. Rod snapping always not fun. Line snapping not fun. Definitely when bank fishing in the early AM, ANY human sounds make my hair stand up for a second. Quote

Snagged on a stickup. Remember that copper rivet they used to put right at the center point in a pair of 501's? Yes, that one. That was the point of impact. I heard it coming, but I never saw it coming. 2 Quote

I’ve been extremely lucky on that one - closest I’ve ever come was a Shad Rap imbedded in my shoelaces. 1 Quote

Pat, "I'm snagged, dad" made me laugh, for I got it at the other end, where my dad said, again and again, "I'm stuck. We'll have to go to shore to free me." I get this too: "Definitely when bank fishing in the early AM, ANY human sounds make my hair stand up for a second." Critters don't scare me, but voices in the dark sure do. 17 minutes ago, Phelptwan said: Sound of drag slipping on a hookset. I don't mind that sound. Chilidog Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 The sounds of a lure smacking the side of my boat, This time of year it's chains saws, mowers and leaf blowers all day long. 2 Quote
jbmaine Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Jetskies, pontoon boats, loud music are right up there for me. However, my most hated sound isn't a sound but rather a lack of sound. I've been fishing the same waters off and on for 60 + years. Last few years I've noticed a rapid decline in water quality is some lakes we fish. Water visibility is cut in half. Green algae slime on the bottom. We noticed the turtles were disappearing. This year we noticed there were no frogs croaking along the weedy shore line. Also no sound of loons. Couple with the fishing has really gone down hill in these lakes and it makes us worried. Quote

Maine Fish & Wildlife notes causation between shoreline development and loss of water quality. Are you seeing new homes on the shorelines of these lakes? Quote

We hate seeing all the seasonal camps and undeveloped shoreline disappearing but there it is. 1 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 The sounds my stomach makes when the bite is hot with no bathroom for miles. Pooping off the back of the boat is humiliating. 1 Quote
