CDMTJager Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 I am going to give jig fishing a 100% effort next spring and am wanting to get as sensitive of a casting as I can find in the sub $150 range. This will be a jig only dedicated casting rod. Already have several 7:1 or faster good quality bait casting reels. I've done A LOT of on line searches for sub $150 casting rods but would like the advice of those who have had first hand experience in choosing then using the rod they are recommending. 1 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted September 23, 2023 Super User Posted September 23, 2023 If you can handle $149.99 (LOL), iRod Genesis III 704C is heckuva jig rod 1 Quote
CDMTJager Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 Appreciate the suggestion. As this rod and reel combo will be for jig fishing only. Quote
TriStateBassin106 Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 St croix bass x. 7'0 medium heavy, I've had mine for a year now and love it. Dobyns also makes rods at that below 150 dollar price point 1 Quote

ironbjorn Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 I'd get a Tatula. All in all you're going to spend a little more than $150, but it's worth it. To stay completely under $150, I love Dobyns, and I like Furys. People will say the Fury isn't sensitive enough, but I disagree. How, oh how, did anyone catch fish in the past if a Dobyns Fury doesn't get it done... Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted September 23, 2023 Super User Posted September 23, 2023 You can get a Dobyns Kaden on sale for around $150. 2 Quote
Pat Brown Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 I'm very fond of the Abu Garcia PLX Veritas 7'6 MHF and MHMF. I throw lighter wire hooks and lighter weights on the MHMF and I throw my heavier jigs that I may be fishing deeper or in heavier cover on the MHF. They're very sensitive and light and affordable and best of all they are able to tolerate my bank fishing abuse. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 23, 2023 Super User Posted September 23, 2023 Diawa Tatula TTU711MHXB $149.99 + tax 4 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted September 23, 2023 Super User Posted September 23, 2023 Ark, Tharp, Money Maker. Better than a lot of rods that cost much more. If you're gonna be fishing them mostly in the jungle, then I'd recommend the Invoker 7'4" Mag Heavy. 1 Quote

JN94 Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 I bought a mint condition Zodias off American Legacy for $142. Would definitely check those out. Super sensitive for it's price point Quote
Pogues2300 Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Since you aren’t planning on using it until spring I’d check out Black Friday deals and maybe get a really good deal on a better rod. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 25, 2023 Super User Posted September 25, 2023 My ideal of the ideal jig rod will be different then yours, the only thing known is price point. The Daiwa TTU711MHXB is 7’1” long with full cork handle and cork cover reel locking ring that is more comfortable then a bare metal locking ring. The guides appear to be micro?, the reel reel seat has underside exposed rod blank , power is MH, action is extra fast, lure range 1/4-1 oz. Very good features for any jig and worm rod casting jigs or T-rigs between 3/16 to 1 1/4oz. Works for me..... Tom PS, ALF offers 10% discount. Quote
Super User webertime Posted September 26, 2023 Super User Posted September 26, 2023 Megabass Levante Brailist is 160 with code at Kittery Trading Post. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted September 27, 2023 Super User Posted September 27, 2023 Tatula 7'1" MH/XF is pretty good for jigs for around your price point. Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 St.Croix MojoBass Jig and Worm rod. $119 at BP or Cabela's and if you wait until spring, you should be able to get one under $100. Quote
ne_dan Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Honestly for that price I’d go used, if not used then something from the Ark Randall Tharp Honey Badger Series Quote
