Nothing changed. It's a figure of speech.

When I got it, I was wondering if the handle really made a difference.

At first I was thinking I hold the reel, not the rod.

Wrong.

Then I thought, I don't cast with 2 hands much.

Wrong.

Fact is, I use the handles all the time - and it makes a difference with this rod.  Not only is it more comfortable, but it's easier to cast and use.  Hard to explain until you've tried it, but I was surprised how much I grip the rod AND how different (in a good way) the handles are.

Aside from the handles, the sensitivity for detecting bites is excellent.  Good hooksetting power, and fighting the fish is something I'd expect from a rod in the same price range.

The handle is nice, I put my right thumb on top of the foregrip and it’s perfect. Never actually held a rod that way until this one

I looooove my mojos (the non trigon ones) they’re the only rods I own anymore to be honest…… I’ve sold all my other rods so now I exclusively fish mojos…… if any of them were to ever break I’d buy this new generation without hesitation they look very good….. and I’ve had such a good experience with the non trigon ones I have no reason to not continue using them.

That new handle is intriguing. What are your thoughts so far?

I was wondering myself how much of a difference it would actually make. Once I got one in my hands it was clear as day how comfortable they are to hold. It’s one of those where you wouldn’t fully understand or believe until you hold one yourself.

One thing that has come up is, “no tow people have the same hand size.” St. Croix obviously thought about that and while doing a ton of research and testing came to this shape and size. While it is accurate that no two hands are the same size they learned that this size will keep the smallest hands to the largest hands comfortable all day.

They sure did their homework on this one.

Thats a no for me, dog.

I grip my spinning rods with all of my fingers above the reel stem and it just was really uncomfortable for me.  Zenaqs triangular grips are more rounded compared to the SC.  After a few hours of jigging up deep fish, that tri grip that felt good at first became really uncomfortable.  It doesn't take nearly as much pressure to get LM/SMB in, which should help with hot spots and cramps.  SC is going all in on this, which IMO is awful bold.  Personally I have so many SC rods that I don't fish anymore, the memories and nostalgia make them priceless, cant ever get rid of them.  I really hope SC does well with these, I dont want to see them to take anymore Ls.

That's an interesting perspective because SC actually built the spinning rods with the recommendation to hold it with your fingers above the reel stem. That's not how I usually fish spinning outfits, but it seems the best way to hold them with this rod.

Maybe you should try one before passing judgment because it's built for the way you fish.  Just a thought.

Glenn, is that all their spinning rods, or just the new Trigons?
