Right now I have been out of fishing since my shoulder surgery in July and expected to get the winter type blues and get back to posting on here, well it didn't happen. I don't know if its me, but I struggle to find threads that interest me enough to post. I will say that I have gotten into the everyday carry thing (no gun just gear) this year and that has been fun trying to finally figure out a way to carry all my daily crap way more efficiently. I have even done a few you tube videos on it.

I will admit I have had a love hate relationship with this site and the rules and maybe a mod along the way. I get the rules and the reason for them, it just gets difficult when people are researching sites to see if they are ok to order from or certain products. I am also an analytical introvert, so my posts are usually detailed and I probably come across as a know it all lol which I know rubs some people the wrong way, but I can't write any other way, I have tried.

So I have no clue why this is happening, maybe it is the lack of fishing blues that is dragging me down and not seeing the new SK Rage Hawk drop anywhere for black friday sales, cause wow does that bait look fit for a slider head while fishing reed beds.

Personally I have no problem with any rules on here or the way the site is moderated.

I agree sometimes it’s hard to find an interesting enough thread to contribute to but only because I’m not into deep, clear, or finesse anything.
I just scan and move on until something interests me or I feel I may be helpful.

It’s good that you’re back fishing again!

It is an issue with one mod in particular that some of their posts really come across odd to me. I don't want to give more info than that because the majority of that mods posts are really on point.

I just wish the filter for certain sites was disabled in the PM section, because I have had people reach out to me about a site for example and I needed to work around the **** thing even in the messaging section.

You're going to be hard pressed to find another Bass Fishing site as good as Bass Resource.

I enjoy reading posts from members who power fish flipping and pitching, topwater, casting and frogging for the big girls in locales like Florida. That's how I learned to properly use the Chug Bug. My fishing locales, for me, dictate a more finesse approach.

Social media is what you make it.  I moderate a couple of sites and being pro staff for Yamamoto baits as well as writing for them, I am expected to be active on social media to a point. The difference with me is that I’m not a talking head and I actually use and believe in the Yamamoto line so my posts are from actual experience and a lot of it.  As a moderator on a Ranger Boat owners site and a Chevy Silverado site, you get frustrated with the repetitive basic questions that have been answered a zillion times and keeping all of the spammers and scammers out.  I would never be afraid to ask a question or start a topic here that I wanted an answer to.

I don't do social media other than targeted forums. I do this one, several gun forums and a knife forum, and often, only specific parts of a forum that are of interest to me. I like the community here, and I like the atmosphere. I don't always find something to post about, but I read a lot of the articles and forum posts as well.

Shoulder surgery... learn to cast with the other arm? Crazy thing is, I learned to cast baitcaster just yesterday with my left hand. I don't have the aim yet, but my thumb learned pretty quickly since I had the reel adjusted for the lure via my other hand.

As far as everyday carrying, I carry a mess of stuff, including a handgun. I'd be lost without my Leatherman Original and my pocket knife too. I also keep a spare Leatherman for when the inevitable happens.

Perhaps take up whittling? You can do it in the house if you put down an old sheet or just sweep up.

A little scoop I whittled a few years back. The knife is a 6.5375 Case XX Jumbo Stockman in Bonestag that I dyed black.

You might also consider taking up writing. Choose a specific topic that you know well, write a good article on it, and submit it here. Might start you off on a new endeavor.

I think BR is great. Our mods do a great job here, and it's a great place to learn things. I never get tired of learning about bass fishing. For me, BR is where it's at.

I only browse a few sections on this site, but BR is well organized so that you can cherry pick what you're interested in. As for forum moderation, maybe it's good that you have to think twice before you post some things. The internet removes that face to face interaction, thinking twice before posting isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I do get bored with the 2 or 3 forums I regularly browse and swear them off occasionally, never lasts long though. I do pretty much just buzz thru the New Post directory and pick out the ones that might interest me, maybe 4 or 5 out of 20. If I have a question chances are I can find the answer via the search function.

I have no issues with the way the forum is run, either by Glenn or any of the mods.

I’ve been a moderator elsewhere, takes a lot of time and the problems that come up can be a real hassle to deal with.

I like it here, check in two or three times a day, couple of other forums dealing with my other hobbies too. I will say that I too get a little burned out, but it's more how my mind operates not this site or the others I visit daily.

I like this site. It’s more relaxed than many. I don’t post much as many answer questions before I am able so I see no reason to repeat what others have said.

I will take a moment to rant though. ;)  People don’t read threads anymore. They look at the first post and respond. This behavior is rampant on all social media. People also want to be spoon fed, rather than scroll or god forbid search a forum, they ask the same questions answered a hundred times before. They then get offended if you tell them to do a search.  People….

I wouldn't say I was burned out, but after 13 years of pouring over every post as a moderator and also doing some admin stuff like maintaining the Flea Market and approving new posts, I was ready to enjoy this forum as a normal member. I'm actually more interested in the forum now. It's refreshing to ignore new posts for two days and come back to see all the great info being shared. Love this place!

WRB was awarded the badge 'Great Content' and 10 points.

The 1st bass fishing I joined was Bass Insiders and enjoyed the community feel, good bunch of members until B.A.S.S. Merged the forums into the Bassmaster forums killing entire legacy posts and grouped members with a bunch of idiots.

A new site was created by Insider member The Bassholes forums. Most of the original Insider family joined and the formate was nearly identical to Bass Resource unknown to me at that time. Good site until the owner ran into financial problems selling that site.

I ran into Gary Dobyns at the Bass A Thon event and asked Gary what sites do you use and he mentioned 2 a Western site and Bass Resource site, so I joined both.

The Western site slowly became Northern Cal dominated content and I still check in about every other week for any SoCal content but the members rarely share anything useful....PM me.

The BR site however has grown in membership with a community of caring, sharing members with Glenn May at the helm. Don’t think I will ever tire of enjoying being a BR member.

Thank you Glenn and all the BR family??

I don't have any issues with the mods or rules. Having been here since 2009, I find that in the last 9 months or so, the same questions get asked over and over, simple questions that could easily be answered by using the Search function.

Ande then there is those that can't stay on Topic, and get threads shut down. So lately for me unfortunately BR has been a bit boring.

Burned out on social media? Yes, FB and IG are dead to me.

Forums, however, will never die. As someone who wasn’t taught a lot of skills as a child, I have learned more from forums like this than anywhere else. I am deeply grateful for this forum (which is one of the best) and others.

Thanks Glenn, mods, and all you guys who so generously share your knowledge and experiences to help folks like me.
