Skunkmaster-k Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I normally wrap the line around my hand and cut it in the middle to make sure if it falls out of my pocket it doesn’t wrap around somebody’s prop. Last weekend pulling my boat down the ramp I learned that some genius had left a spool’s worth of mono to wrap around the spindle on my trailer. I hope that guy’s ears were burning. 1 Quote
Woody B Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I keep a trash bag under the passenger seat in my boat. I put all my trash in there, including tag ends, and line I cut off during re ties. I don't think a tag end or 2 is going to hurt anything, it's just a habit I have of throwing everything under my seat. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted September 15, 2023 Super User Posted September 15, 2023 I try to keep a small plastic bag but when I don’t have one and there aren’t any trash cans around, I put it in my ocheechobee tackle bag. They’re small and don’t take up any room. Then when I opt to clear out the bag, that’s when those tag ends go I. The trash. Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted September 15, 2023 Global Moderator Posted September 15, 2023 I put it in my back pocket it’s long enough. Otherwise I spit them out like Roland Quote

Like @garroyo130 I have removed hundreds, if not thousands of feet of line from my lake and probably filled a garbage truck with other garbage I've picked up. I don't feel guilty leaving a one inch tag. 1 Quote
Bazoo Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 Like many, I often take trash from my local lake, and always line that I find. I try to get the tag ends, if I'm able to with reasonable effort when I retie, If not, I don't fret it. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted September 17, 2023 Super User Posted September 17, 2023 I just drop mine inside the tackle bag. When I get home it gets picked out when I remove the boxes and clean out the inside of the bag. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted September 17, 2023 Super User Posted September 17, 2023 We all used to carry around a baby food jar for cig butts. Now it only holds cut-offs. Don't ask what the pickle jar is for. Quote

I check both my outboard prop and my bow mount prop regularly for debris like this. Earlier this spring I was fishing a lake that had a lot of spaghetti-type weeds and they were constantly wrapping around my bow mount prop. I don’t think a 1 inch tag end is going to foul up a prop on its own. When I find balls of discarded line I always remove those though. They wreak havoc on equipment and wildlife. 1 Quote

shackman Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Tag ends fall in the bottom of the boat and I guess eventually blow out or live in the carpet Quote
