All these topics about reels are very informative, and I love the fact that we get first hand impressions of a huge number of reels. What a great way to judge my next one!! (Whenever that will be)

But hold it there, I'm getting myself confused with the names of the reels.

US - JDM

Curado - Scorpion

Citica - Metanium

Chronarch - ???

Why doesn't Shimano name them the same, or at least close enough to get a vague definition....  :-/  Does it have something to do with the little differences between the US and Japanese reels??

Pour in the knowledge!! (Hey Raul  ;) )

THanks.

EXPORT JDM

Curado = Scorpion 1000, 1500

Castaic = Scorpion Quickfire

Chronarch Mg = Scorpion Mg

Chronarch = Metanium.

Scorpion is a generic name given by Shimano Japan to their sub Metanium models Laggy, in domestic reels all reels under the Chronarch were given the generic name Bantam. ( Bantam Curado ).

Thanks!!

But why is the Scorpion Mg called ChronarchMg while the MetaniumXT is called Chronarch... I thought they weren't related in any way.....  Besides, if that's what Mr.Shimano likes to name them, where did the MetaniumMg go??  :-?

Hmm... We still see a ton of them in stores around here... It looks better than the XT..

Oh well ;) Thanks for clearing things up!! Seems like you guys love the Chronarch50mg so I was looking into it. Looks good. I want it, but that won't happen until at least another year  ;D
