On the other end of the spectrum, I have been killing them on 20# Power Pro Camo braid with NO leader on a Med spinning rod. Why not 50# braid? Your leader would still break first, and you'd get better casting performance and line capacity. I'm playing devil's advocate but I'm curious because I'm looking at a similar scenario for my own setup(s). Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted September 10, 2023 Super User Posted September 10, 2023 I've never fished with anything over 50#. The only time I use that is when I am punching through mats. Quote
ironbjorn Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 I don't. I don't really frog, and 15lb Big Game and Yo-Zuri Hybrid pulls up literal logs. Quote
wvhunt Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Because I'm fishing for 60 pound bass??? No, I've never used braid that heavy. Quote

Also the diameters match up (.016) and I get better connection knots. 1 Quote
hunterPRO1 Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Because 80 is too stiff and I have broken 50 before. Quote
