Dying spinnerbait skirt with Rit?

I have a white spinnerbait, and I have rit dye in black. I don’t have lots of funds though so I’m thinking I will give it a go.   Anyone know of this combo will work? Will it successfully dye the silicone or ruin it? Should I dip it cold or boil it? Boil it I imagine.

Rit dye is for natural fabrics that are porous...they even don't recommend it for fabrics containing more than 30% synthetic fibers. Reading a couple other forums on dying - Rit just washes off silicon rubber...doesn't even really take.

 

If you want to go the cheap route - get a chisel tip sharpie and color each strand individually.

That will most likely result in a mottled look, which I have always found to be a killer look in any kind of lure.  I just have to try it!

Never tried it ion silicone and doubt it would work. Warm water don’t boil the water. I would paint the head and change the skirt.
