Reel for light crankbait

I'm putting together a combo to fish lures in the Baby Griffon weigh range. I already have the rod and I was pretty much ready to order a Liberto Pixy but I have the chance to fish with one this weekend and the reel didn't feel right in my hand. very small, cast like a champ so. The other thing is the spool capacity is very limited, 8 lbs/80 yds.

The second  is the Daiwa Alpha type F, but I don't think I'm going to be able to try one.

I would appreciate the opinion of those who have use any of these reels as well as other options in the marquet. I will not use any one with centrifugal pin system.

If you spend a little time on ebay you can get a Calcutta TEDC in the same $ range as the Pixy. Only a spinning reel casts a light bait farther,  and it has the guts to drag home a 20lb fish with ease. The braking is computer controlled and absolutely amazing.  Round reel with lots of line capacity. JMHO

Oh well, if you didn 't like the Pixy most probably you won 't like anything, all the other reels ( Alphas, Alphas Type F, Sol ) are about the same size.

I have an Alphas (Purple Wonder) and really like mine but then you have to be comfortable with the reel you use. Before getting, the Alphas the only casting reels I had used for many years were 5000 and 6000 size Abu Pro Max round reels. Since it is my first real low profile, I had nothing to compare it to other than my old round ones. The Shimano Calcutta and Conquest come in 50 and 100 sizes that are extremely great casting reels so maybe try them for the feel. It sure never hurts to try before you by if you can find someone that has a reel you are thinking of buying and they are willing to let you try it. Good luck in your quest.

Your asking alot.

You want a reel that is light and smooth enough to adequately cast very light lures, but you want that reel to fill your hand like a full size.  

The closest thing I can think might be the daiwa fuego, It will handle light lures, but not as well as the pixie, alphpas F or TDZ/steez.
