AdrianLP Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Has anyone tried this method? It's very non-traditional, but it looks super fast and really simple. Quote
Super User MickD Posted September 3, 2023 Super User Posted September 3, 2023 That is not an FG knot. The leader is wrapped multiple times around the braid, therefore it will be quite a large knot. The FG consists of weaves of the braid around the leader, but no wraps of the leader. Quote

Yup this method requires access to both ends of the line being wrapped around, meaning the leader has to be wrapped around the mainline and not the other way around. 1 Quote

What if you just switched which hand held which? Quote
garroyo130 Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 *edit ... this guy tied an albright and passed it off as an FG 1 Quote
Super User MickD Posted September 3, 2023 Super User Posted September 3, 2023 The finished knot shows that as originally proposed the leader is wrapped around a doubled braid. If you reverse the lines the braid will be wrapped around a doubled leader. If the leader is doubled it is not an FG and will not be as small. It will be more sized like an Alberto. If I'm interpreting it wrong, let me know. Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted September 3, 2023 Super User Posted September 3, 2023 The FG is not that hard Quote

PaulVE64 Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Nail knot - used to connect fly line to a leader/tippet/whatever. I think it's a nail knot but I've never tied it that way Quote
