I called them to find out. The guy I spoke to was very nice, but told me “Asia”.  I asked where at in Asia, so he put me on hold, then came back and told me that they didn’t have that information.  It sounds like they just don’t want to say “ China”.  I told him that it was strange that they didn’t know where the reels were made, but he again told me “we don’t have that information”.

Funny because their slogan is

"Decades in the Making"

Yet no one knew where.

Are there any pros in the Elite series, or MLF that are currently using these? I would like to see their opinions. I know there is a considerable difference between use by an amateur, a sometimes tournament fisherman and a fulltime pro. My thought on the matter is that a pro will use the heck out of a reel far more quickly than any other fisherman, and they would be in a better position to tell how the reels are going to hold up.....I have no doubt that the initial quality of the reels is good but only hard use and/or time will tell how they hold up......

I promise you I can take worse care of my gear than any professional, I’ll let ya know how it goes

I was bombing a walking bait with it this weekend and my buddy wanted to try it out. He was loving it, said “dang it you might make me go buy one of these!”

At some point I'll "have" to try one.   I'm concerned about "unable to backlash" though.  I HAVE to backlash every now and then to know I'm fishing.

Oh I’ve backlashed it

Look up "Banax Apollo" and you will find some unique features such as a line clip and a line test reminder in a strange place...

I thought it looked like a Banax reel as well.  The knobs are the same on my Quantum Tour S3. It looks similar in general.  I am not knocking it. I like the Tour S3 I have. Whatever it is, I hope it takes off. It looks like a quality reel for the money.  I do agree that the line size indicator is weird.  It looks like an after thought.

I will never understand graphite reels inserting themselves into the same price range as aluminum reels and thinking that makes sense.

I used to feel the same way but like I said if it's the high tech super hard stuff and not regular old graphite I get it. I'd put my tanso tech framed Custom lites against anything. They seem to get smoother as I use them more

Are those 1's or I's in the SEV11N/SEVIIN. Either way, is there a certain meaning behind it?

Free Vision 110 to anyone who dresses up like Julius Caesar on their next fishing trip using a SEVIIN reel and takes a picture of it.

I’m also guessing the Seviin is also a nod to the seven decades St. Croix has been around.

I am not. I want to see someone go full LARP with their Roman numeral reel.

how exactly did J. Caesar dress anyways.  a toga?

You have that option, or iron armor. I probably wouldn't suggest the latter. Would be a bad time to fall out of the boat.

Could be. What happens when they get to 8 decades? Change the name to EVIIIGHT? :D

Looks like it has some interesting features,... I like the idea of the line clip on the front.

I just have a hard time getting excited about a graphite framed reel with magnetic brakes, especially one that costs more than established reels like the SLX, Fuego, and LFS Speed Spool.

Does anyone else think it's strange that all three of their spinning reels cost more than the baitcaster??

I think they missed the boat with the naming though.

why not attach the St. Croix name for recognition and matching combos etc like Daiwa does??

I have a feeling if it doesn't take off, we might see this rebrand in the future.

Seven in Chinese in traditional culture represents the combination of yin and yang with the five elements (fire, water, earth, metal, and wood).  That represents harmony. There are a lot of areas in Chinese culture where "seven" is used.  Maybe the manufacturers had something to do with the name?

Not sure what I think of the casting and spinning reels yet but glad to see some new options hit the market. I thought I saw somewhere these are made where quantum reels are but cant confirm. Might try a spinning reel and see how they hold up. Wish someone would make reels state side. Designed and manufactured.

What I’m interested in is how satisfying is the clicking drag sounds this reel makes……. For this price point I can’t think of another baitcaster that has a clicking drag

I’m probably wrong though

Are you talking about the spinning reel or the baitcaster? I haven’t experienced this with my baitcaster.

Yeah I watched a promo video on YouTube on kayak angler magazine and in the video the baitcaster has a clicking drag….. I thought that was pretty cool, maybe that was just a prototype and they went away from that with the final product……
