I realize some peoples eyes aren’t the greatest and can’t see it while it’s on the rod. Taking it off the rod to see it would only take 10 seconds maybe?

Doesn't that defeat the purpose ?

Not at all. The purpose of the dial is to let you know what pound test you have spooled up. It does that.

I'm thrilled with this reel!  Finally an affordable reel with high-end performance!

Are there any pros in the Elite series, or MLF that are currently using these? I would like to see their opinions. I know there is a considerable difference between use by an amateur, a sometimes tournament fisherman and a fulltime pro. My thought on the matter is that a pro will use the heck out of a reel far more quickly than any other fisherman, and they would be in a better position to tell how the reels are going to hold up.....I have no doubt that the initial quality of the reels is good but only hard use and/or time will tell how they hold up......

I will never understand graphite reels inserting themselves into the same price range as aluminum reels and thinking that makes sense.

There are pictures of these new reels and pictures of the boxes the reels came in on this thread.  Surely someone can tell us where they are made.   I’ve searched and can’t find this information anywhere.

I literally just called the number from the Seviin website to find out. I was on hold for about a minute when an automated voice came on saying my estimated wait time is 112 minutes. I don't need to know that badly. ?

I can't find anything about where they're made. However I did notice that they go out of their way to use the language "designed" in the USA. Clever use of words.

I called them to find out. The guy I spoke to was very nice, but told me “Asia”.  I asked where at in Asia, so he put me on hold, then came back and told me that they didn’t have that information.  It sounds like they just don’t want to say “ China”.  I told him that it was strange that they didn’t know where the reels were made, but he again told me “we don’t have that information”.

I think they missed the boat with the naming though.

why not attach the St. Croix name for recognition and matching combos etc like Daiwa does??

Or maybe... These are produced overseas and St. Croix has a long standing reputation as a manufacturer of US made products.

I know you were all waiting with bated breath.  I just got home, looked on the box, and…..manufactured in China.

Appreciate the info. Lews LFS are made in China and they're regarded as decent entry level reels.

Most reels are manufactured in Asia.  Lews, Okuma, Shimano, Spro, Daiwa, 13, Abu-Garcia are all made overseas, just to name a few.

Yes, not all are made in China.  Some are made in Malasia, Korea, Japan, etc.  But even those often have parts that were made in China.

The Seviin reels are made to strict quality standards and engineering designs from their Wisconsin headquarters.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of a different reel.  They just hit the shelves a few days ago.

I probably caught 100 bass on mine in 3 days flinging a whopper plopper the whole time. It performed great with easy casting and no issues.

At some point I'll "have" to try one.   I'm concerned about "unable to backlash" though.  I HAVE to backlash every now and then to know I'm fishing.

Oh you can backlash it, I promise, but it was easy to set and fish with minimal adjustments.

I’m sure you can. Maybe I need to lighten up on the brakes a bit. I was casting a spinnerbait into a stiff wind, no backlash, and good distance. I’ll give it a better shot next time. ?
