Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted September 1, 2023 Global Moderator Posted September 1, 2023 I’ve been fishing this reel for a little over a month now and impressed is an understatement! This reel is incredibly smooth, fits very well in my hand, and I’ve yet to backlash it (trust me I tried). The $120 price tags isn’t going to break the bank either and in my opinion it’s a steal! A cool little touch on this reel is a dial on the bottom so you know what size line you have spooled up. 11 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted September 1, 2023 Super User Posted September 1, 2023 that line dial is cool as heck!! 1 Quote

Hulkster Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 I think they missed the boat with the naming though. why not attach the St. Croix name for recognition and matching combos etc like Daiwa does?? 4 Quote

Risk minimalization maybe? I think remember back in the day SC had their own spinning reels, but they didn't do so well. If the Seviin reels turn out to be a bust, maybe the name serves as a layer of protection to the brand SC. Right now SC is losing some customers that have been loyal for decades because of quality issues, faltering customer service and changes in product direction. 12 minutes ago, 12poundbass said: If we don’t like a product we get we are not required to talk about it. Thats good. Would you buy that reel over an SLX XT? 5 Quote

I’m not a Shimano guy. Most of my reels now are Daiwa, specifically CT, 100, 150, and Fuego. As of right now I wouldn’t have an issue buying more Seviin reels over those. 1 Quote

I was going to say SLX XT or Fuego CT, but since the Fuego doesn't get the love the SLX does I didn't mention it. Supposedly there some really decent reels being put out by rod companies. I heard the Ark reels were somewhat impressive. Quote
KP Duty Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Brass pinion and main gear ?, but graphite frame to keep them aligned ??. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Daiwa use to make reels for ST Croix. Who makes these? 1 Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted September 2, 2023 Super User Posted September 2, 2023 Lews speed dial is better as it is in a better place to read it. Nothing wrong with carbon fiber if it's the high tech super hard stuff but at that price I doubt it. I don't get why they didn't brand them St. Croix. 2 Quote
