During the right conditions,

the Megabass Pop Max has produced several very respectable bass for me.

In both domestic and international waters.

Keep an eye on that rear feathered treble, it can bend out a bit on slounch jobs.

Okay four in a row for the popmax…. What colors would y’all recommend in very clear water 10ft+ visibility. @J Francho @A-Jay @roadwarrior @NJBasstard

Forage is small perch and sunfish, 3-4in minnows, but some larger bait too. I just think I would be replicating the small gills and perch and minnows best with the popmax

I'm a big fan of the Storm arashi cover pop.  Original Rebel is hard to beat.

I agree with Pat, the Storm Cover Pop is excellent.  It is inexpensive, casts a mile, can be popped and skittered, as well as being very easy to walk and you don't have to change out the back hook if you are around large bass.  I landed multiple bass over 7 pounds, including one over 10 pounds around heavy cover in one weekend with mine , and  never had any issues with hooks.  I lost it when a big bass wrapped my line around a tree and broke off.  I finished the trip with a Pop R which worked but didn't cast as far, or walk the dog as well as the Cover Pop.

I am scared to try the Pop Max, if it is only half as good as it's reputation, I will end up with a whole box of very expensive poppers.  I may go down that road some day, just not today.

I've done good on the original Storm Chug Bug. I have a 1/4 oz shad finish that's been great.

PopMax for sure.  i can actually kinda walk the dog with that thing.   casts like a bullet and it walks and spits coming back.

but to be honest, i have taken more fish with the smaller one.  pop-smaller.  i cant remember the name

I've been doing well on a rebel foxy lady 1/4oz (3-pack only) and a chrome sexy shad KVD splash jr, for a larger popper I like the metallic ghost ayu yozuri hardcore popper 70F . I have a popmax but it doesn't get the bite like the others do. I also do better with my own feathered trebles, using thick bucktail + very long shiny bits instead of marabou. I need to make one for the popmax. adds a lot of action to the pop n stops and using an owner stx38 ups my hookup %. I'm partial to shad colors but that's just what I've had the most success with. honorable mention to the rebel foxy shad 1/4oz.

I have a Python Popmax that has caught more fish than almost all other lures in the past few years.

To me it depends how you are fishing it - I employ Popmax and Yellow Magics. Yellow Magic are fished a lot faster like fleeing alewives.

Perch pattern has been a winner -

Sort of looks like this . . .

Poppers in my popper box ;

Popmax - Walks good. I almost exclusively walk that one.

KVD Splash Pop - Has always been good to me on rivers. Good for small profile and I like the colors.

Rico/Yellow Magic - I use these as a duo. I feel like if they aren't into one sound a lot of times they are into the other. They both act a little different but they are both 10/10s.

There are others, but these are certainly my essentials.

Iovino Splash-It Owner hooks and chicken feathers both 1/4 & 3/8 oz work for me.

Best value poppers to have in your arsenal : Berkley Bullet Pop (Ghost Bluegill, MF Bluegill) , Booyah Boss Pop (Pearl Melon, ZShad) , Strike King HC KVD Splash Popper (Black Lab, Oyster) .

I have always fished the Pop-r and chugbugs, and I've always had good success with them. I ought to get a Pop Max and try it immediately after my Pop-R doesn't produce.

Zel Rowland modified the original Pop-R so the lure would spit more and could be worked faster to replicate panicked bait fish, his lures are still available.

The Japanese redesigned the Pop-R improving Zel’s modified lures. The 1st of the Japanese lures was the Micheal with others to follow.

Rick Clunn signature Rico, Iovino’s Splash-it, etc. Megabass came out with a realistic bait fish looking popper with open mouth that had open gills, really cool looking lure in the early 90’s. The problem was the lure was fragile but caught lots bass until a striper ate it destroying the lure.

Megabass Pop Max and Pop X, also the Baby Pop X. I switch out both trebles with Owner ST-36 with eh reat with ST-36 treble hook.

I'm experimenting with the Pop X front treble hook. Trying to find a Short shank treble that doesn't foul up as much
