Hi! I made a post on this forum about the GLX 844c MBR rod that I ordered if its a good rod for Jigs and worms. Its been on backorder since and i havent received it. Long story short, i was offered up a NRX+ 854C JWR rod free of charge as a replacement. Would you guys take this offer? I am on the fence because I dont know much about it except that its a higher priced model. Would this be viable with for Jigs and worms (not pitching and flipping into cover, mostly bank fishing <25 Ft. of water). I understand it literally says Jig and Worm Rod in the name, but I want to be 100% sure, Please let me know what you guys would do! im in need of advise from the experts!

It’s probably overkill but get it anyway.

I had the glx.  I found it to be stiffer than I wanted so I sold it.

I'm with Jig Man, I prefer the 3 power over a heavy power 4. The 3 is also a far better rod for the other stuff. In the scheme of things I have always thought the MBR 783 C was a better rod than the 843, but I was on a boat mostly.

The GLX MBR844C is the gold standard for me/ standard for me. However. the GLX 842C

is a GREAT rod and perhaps a better fit for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. Mine is saddled

with a Core 50Mg and Tatsu #12. This is my favorite rig.

The 844C GLX is a great rod but 854C NRX+ is your next step up. I would go for the upgrade.

The 854C will have a faster tip than the 844C which is a little softer to me. Either way you go, both are great rods.

GLX MBR has better action and wider applications, and NRX JWR has better sensitivity and a more universal reel seat. It's a pickel, but I'll take the upgrade for sure. If you don't like it, you can always sell it and get a GLX MBR. You'll still have some leftover for lures.

I'd take it, But the MBR series is a better all-purpose rod. I love the 844 GLX.

And yes, you could fish a spinnerbait on an 854.
