They want red or purple or blue or white or something silly way more than a natural color because all the anglers that fish that pond just KNOW green pumpkin is the best color for clearer water....and the bass have learned.

Interesting point.  Over the years I had a bunch of success with motor oil colored worms.   When I started back fishing (after 30 years) my old motor oil colored worms were getting bit.   When I ran out of the old ones and bought new ones the bite slowed down a bunch.   The new motor oil worms are basically green pumpkin.   The older ones were more.....motor oil colored.

I know what ya mean @Woody B. I really like the zoom trick worm, motoroil color, but it is completely different now. Have been using okeechobee color, kinda of a laminate blue and green pumpkin.

I don't know how to describe the power worm motor oil red flake but it's very pretty even if it ain't quite right.  And it caught me an 11 lb bass ???

Reasons I like camouflage

Cinnamon - brown color

Pepper - black flake

Neon - red metal flake

Junebug - purple - green metal flake

Laminated - dark color on back, light color on the belly

That's 5 colors all going on at the same time

Good stuff- I like anglers doing random tests.  I've done a few myself.  I don't own any blue saphire plastics...or old purple for that matter.  I need to remember that fish can only distinguish red and green colors, so blue saphire probably looks similar to a smoke color to a bass.  I think flake is key with blue saphire, smoke, or any light transparent color.
