Maggiesmaster Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 My EchomapUHD 93SV won’t turn on. Garmin support said if it’s out of warranty they’ll exchange it with a refurbished unit for $250. The refurb. unit only has a 90 day warranty. But they don’t do repairs. Does anyone repair these units? Quote
Super User GaryH Posted August 10, 2023 Super User Posted August 10, 2023 You may want to shoot @12poundbass a message. He’s pretty up to date on Garmin. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted August 10, 2023 Global Moderator Posted August 10, 2023 Thanks @GaryH for the nod of confidence but I’m not that up to date or knowledgeable enough to help out. Silly question but have you made sure you have power to the unit? @Todd Driscoll is an actual Garmin pro maybe he’ll swing by and try and help. Quote
Todd Driscoll Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 It certainly could be the head unit that is faulty, but more often this issue is related to power supply (power cable, connections, fuse, or cradle). If you have access to another unit, try it in your current cradle to help troubleshoot your issue. Quote
Maggiesmaster Posted August 12, 2023 Author Posted August 12, 2023 I don’t have another unit, but I checked the voltage across the outside cradle pins & it read 12.8 volts. Both the cradle and unit pins look ok. I sprayed them with electronic cleaner, and that didn’t help. I’m going to try on the lake again this afternoon to see if that’s the problem. Quote
Maggiesmaster Posted August 14, 2023 Author Posted August 14, 2023 Update: cleaned all the connections with electronic cleaner and cleaned the carriage holes with small craft wire. Went on the lake yesterday for a trial. Ran good for about 5 minutes, then went blank. Restarted ok, and it ran for almost one additional hr. without turning off. Going out tomorrow morning for another trial. 1 Quote
Solution Maggiesmaster Posted August 14, 2023 Author Solution Posted August 14, 2023 Went out this morning and the Garmin wouldn’t turn on! Checked the power to the cradle & didn’t have any. Searched the power cord & found a really loose connection where the boat wire connected to the power cord. Cleaned the wires, applied dielectric grease on the connector & retightened. Everything ran fine for the rest of the morning. Looks like Todd was correct; thanks! Hope this solves the problem. Quote
