I went with to the local B&T today with the intention of buying some 8# fluoro.  However when I got to the line section of the shop I noticed that all the fluoro line was gone and in its place was a bunch of P-Line co-polymer stuff.

The lower comparative price vs fluoro piqued my interest so I started doing my homework on it.  I read up on what it is and how it’s made and all that.  What I ask about here is folks’ real world experiences with it.

If you use it, what do you use it for?

P.S.  I’m not trying to start a big debate over what line is better just want to know the pros and cons of co-polymer

I use Yo-Zuri Hybrid for just about anything

4 and 6 lb on spinning

10, 12, and 15 lb on casting

Although I have migrated to Seaguar Tatsu, I  have fished Hybrid for 20 years

and still do on a couple of rigs. Give it a try and see what you think.

Ive said this a few times on here, i dont like fluoro and i dont like mono for mainline (except when using swimbaits or fishing for panfish). Almost all of my main used casting reels have YZ Hybrid on them, for me it brings the best of both lines but at a budget price and without a tangled mess.

I fish alot of wood/rocky areas and also areas where most of the lake is grass and it handles it all great, when fishing a football jig the other day i could feel almost every rock it crawled over so the sensitivity is good enough for my fishing. It has some stretch but i prefer it since its not too much like mono but not too stiff like fluoro. Good balance on the stetch/sensitivity.

Ive caught bass from 1lb to 8lbs and havent had any bass break the line, even after a couple dozen big bass bite the lure the line had some wear and tear but kept on going and didnt break.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid 12# has been my go-to for Crankbaits for years. 15# on my spinner/chatter rig and 10# on my soft swimbait/topwater rig.

P-Line has a few Copolymer lines; C21 and CXX. FluoroClear is a co extruded hybrid similar to Yo-Zuri Hybrid line.

Both P-Line and Yo-Zuri hybrid lines are larger in diameter per lb test, so check the diameters! If you are using spinning reels with 8 lb test stay under .010 diameter.

If your local shop is out of FC line, the P-Line May be old and I would avoid buying line there.

Follow up question:  many of you mentioned Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Is this better than the P-Line?  Or is it more of a preference/availability thing?

You could try both. Both are reasonably priced. The P line I'm using is P line CX Premium in 6lb. It's been strong, and handles good on a size 2000 reel. Very limber and easy spooling.

I'm not sure of the exact diameter, but I believe it's thinner than Yo Zuri hybrid of the same size. I could be wrong though.

Every BC I own has either braid or 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid.  I have never tried P-line only because Yo-Zuri has been the most perfect line I could ever want for a number of years.  P-line may be just as good.  I have no reason to test the theory.

I throw topwater treble hook baits on the Yo-Zuri Hybrid and it works great. The only P-Line co-polymer I’ve used is the Floroclear, and the Hybrid outperforms Floroclear hands down. I feel like Hybrid has slightly less stretch than standard mono, but it still floats well.

I’m a fan of the suffix advance myself and have it on multiple baitcasters and one 2000 size spinning reel with zero issues on either. I also have and use big game mono and prior to suffix I really liked McCoy mean green.IMG_0630.thumb.jpeg.995d16e401440cd272a4ad4037d04767.jpegIMG_0629.thumb.jpeg.786a1ada48ffee2c9382bcba74ac3b78.jpeg

Gamma Copolymer is a quality line too.

I haven’t tried theirs yet. How’s the buoyancy? I only use Copoly with treble topwaters. I have one with 10# for poppers and light stuff and one with 15# for my bigger walking baits. Been experimenting with braid to a leader which helps a lot.

I've replaced all my mono on my spinning reels with 8 lb. Yo_Zuri. On my bait caster I have some with Trilene Big Game and the rest with Yo-Zuri in 10 lb and 12 lb. I like Yo-Zuri and have been using it for many many years.

I haven't used it for top waters, mostly for squarebills and 3XD crankbaits. Wish I could help, sorry bud.
