A friend of mine called me this morning from Florida and said he found Buffalo Trace for $25. Told him to get me two.

My local store has it, but they want $47 for it. Robbery!

People pay if for some reason. I’d never pay over $30. There are so many great $40 bottles….

My wife wanted some a couple years ago and the store had it around 40. I said it’s usually 27, she said oh this is collectors edition. Hahah no thanks

under 30 is good price, it’s about that direct from the distillery in person

Thank you all very much for the help and good information, ive picked up a few small 50ml bottles of different brands to try, some simple syrup and bitters to try old fashions as well. Im thinking the bourbons/whiskeys will be the same thing as the beer with taking a awhile to get used to it, but in case i cant get used to it, well i like it mixed with cola if it comes to that.

Pick up a jar of real lemon juice, not the concentrated stuff. One part juice, one part simple syrup, two parts bourbon. Pour over ice and you have a favorite of mine, a simple whiskey sour.

That's ridiculous. Its a steal under $30...at almost $50 there's better bottles.

I will never drink anything I "have to get used to". Either I like it the first time I try it, or I won't try it again.

Update.

Tonight i went for dinner with my parents, the bartender was our waitress. I asked what bourbons they had and she started saying Makers Mark, Knob Creek. Before she could continue i said ill have the Knob Creek. At first sniff i could barely smell any ethanol like scents that were very heavy in the previous 2 brands, really good smell. waited a few minutes for it to open up, somewhere i found said to wait 1 minute for each year of its age. Then the taste, just wow this was a amazing bourbon.

No ethanol smell or taste, couldnt really get 1 flavor it was kind of all mixed together (but im new to this so not sure what im doing yet) but i was able to take much bigger sips and really enjoyed the drink. That being said there was a little burn going down but surprisingly enjoyable.

This is 100 proof so a big step up from the previous 2, someone on here mentioned to try a higher proof since it will have more flavors that might over power the ethanol taste, and wow you were right.

No ethanol taste and a really enjoyable drink all around, thank you all for the advice and suggestions.

I like it for drinking straight (shaken) but for making an old fashioned it gets lost. When I can't taste my liquor I might go overboard.

If you want to try an old fashioned, Knob Creek rye is great for it.

Another full bodied, smooth bourbon I don't think anyone has mentioned is Bulleitt. One of my go-tos.

Tastes like pine tar. And I've had "good gin".

You could very well be correct sir. Gin makes me black out so I do not drink it. What makes me ornery is stupidity. Who knows, maybe I'm just as guilty as the next guy. The older I get, the less patience I have for stupidity. Hell, maybe I'm the stupid one.

First time trying it. Definitely worth the $40.
