Big_Easy_Bassin Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 I’ve been having success flipping docks and lighter cover lay downs with a 1/2oz Missile Baits Ike’s Mini Flip Jig and some I tied myself on 7/16oz BOSS Finesse Flip jig heads with chunk trailers. Does the 744 have enough power or would the 735 be a better fit?? Quote

Cbump Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 I use a 746 for this. That’s how underpowered they fish to me. I don’t like wimpy rods. That’s why I chose the 5 power here. 3 Quote

I used the Fury to flip a T-rig on the outside edges of grass mats with 1/2-3/4oz tungsten and it performed great. Might need two DC735’s lol. One for the docks with FC and one for the grass edges with braid. I have a Boom Boom DC766FLIP and it’s a lotttt more sensitive than my Fury's. 1 Quote
Scott804 Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Don't got a 744 so I can't say, but I am glad you went 735. I really like that rod, it'll be a versatile tool too. It's great for buzzbaits. From 28" snakeheads to 21" bass, it feels like it just has a perfect tip for buzzbait bites whether they're smoking it or just coming up and swiping. Makes for an awesome summer time techniques rod. I have had multiple days this year where I go out and the 735 stays in my hand the entire time. From the buzzbait in the morning, to retying to a frog, to retying to a similar application to what you will be doing. Mostly a grass rod for me though, I have never seen how it acts with fluoro before but it's a darn good rod with some braid on it. "Beefy" is the perfect word to describe how it feels. Below, my 735c on the left Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted August 1, 2023 Super User Posted August 1, 2023 The 744 is a very fast action. It locks up quick and translates to power. That’s why it’s referred to as the jig special. You can confidently fish frogs with it. Quote
