the ohh face Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I love the baitcasting setup i bought this year (cronarch on a st croix rod) and i want to get another baitcasting setup. Ive read about many many different reels on the forums and i am interested in several. However i dont know of any places i can try them out before purchase. I know im not going to be able to actually bring one out on the water but to actually get my hands on them at the store would be nice. I buy some tackle at dicks but their reel selection is very limited. I live in southern MA anyone know a store with a large selection i can try a few reels out at? hmm.... maybe i should post this in the locations section Quote
erice97699 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 The bass proshop that is in my area usually will let you put a reel on a rod but I have not been able to get them to put any line on them yet.... lol try bps. cabela's. ganders mountain... etc. Eric Quote
nboucher Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Shane, if you wait a little while, as you may have heard, a Bass Pro Shop is due to open right by Foxboro stadium next year, though I don't know which month. Also, I've read that Cabela's is due to open a store over where Routes 1 and 495 intersect. In the meantime, one of the very best tackle shops in our region is Northern Bass Supply, which is in Kingston, NH. They've got a large inventory and will let you try out stuff. It's worth the drive. Check them out online at http://www.northernbass.com. Norman Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted October 26, 2006 Super User Posted October 26, 2006 Not trying to be a smart alek, but if you have a setup you love, why look for something different. Get yourself another Chronarch and a St Croix. Just get a different length/action rod to fit a different application. There is something to said for using the same reel on all your rigs. If I had it to do over, I'd do just that. Cheers, GK Quote

the ohh face Posted October 27, 2006 Author Posted October 27, 2006 i was contemplating buying the calais w/ a g loomis but i think that is going to have to wait till next year about $400 is the most i want to spend on the whole setup for this spring.
