Honestly one of the best parts about owning a boat is just getting out onto some open water and throttling down.

I’m confused where are all the rocks? Why isn’t it 3 feet or less? Why are you making such little noise but going so fast?

I am just used to the jet boat life on the susky. Very rarely do I get into a place like you are at in that video. Looks so peaceful compared to my normal outing of “ I don’t think this rock is showing yet”

@Bdnoble84 I’ll tell you what it is an eerie feeling when you go over something in a jet boa.   you can feel the water pinch between your hull and the submerged obstacle.  You think to yourself man that was close!

@A-JayI used to work with a guy who was retired and wanted something to do.  He was retired coast guard. He enjoyed it very much. He did mention how when Mother Nature is ticked off no video or picture can do her justice. He says training and trust in your shipmates is all you guys have out there.

Wow, how far of runs do you usually have to make there?   What is your typical cruising speed?   Love all that open water.

That's about the shortest run (distance wise) I make on the most of the full size Lake Menderchucks. There's several that are perhaps double that. Kind sucks a little when the air temps are 30 or below.   I'll use wind direction, speed and ramp location to my advantage if it's an option. Many times it is not.  Always want the weather on my stern coming home.  When conditions permit, I prefer to operate the ProXS @5000  rpms.  These motors are designed to be run.  Not beat on, but run. Speed varies but it's usually in the low to mid 50's. While 30 mph saves gas it just about doubles my travel time.  No thanks.  WOT on my rig is 5700-ish and we venture up there on occassion too.  Going again early next week and as often as I can now.

Believe it or not, the leaves ,(and ferns) are already starting to turn up here.

Wow, that is a lot of running time.   I only get that on Mille Lacs and a couple other bigger lakes, and even then, I try to pick an access to shorten the drive time based on weather, wind, bite, etc.   I often run between 30-40 mph when spot hopping around home to save some of the expensive fuel we have now.

Your big lakes are beautiful!!  Changing colors is not something I am ready for.  Yikes.

On the cooler to colder flat mornings, that V-8 likes to eat.

So 56 - 57 but it's gotta be straight down hill.

Sadly I'm almost positive I can simultaneously hear that gas gage needle crashing to the "E ".

Sounds like the whistle a dropping bomb makes.

Some day I may lay those Talons flat on the back deck

and see it we can get a new PB.

"Wait up, I seen this in a cartoon once,

but I'm pretty sure I can pull it off.

Lol, that is about what I get out of mine too.  They put a 19p prop on it and I thought that was too small of pitch, but that darn thing jumps out of the hole and planes out right now.  I usually get around 53-54 most days loaded down with two people.  I jump out of the hole during tournaments and get a good head start on the big boats, but they will pass me if they have a couple minutes of run time.  Luckily, our lakes are small and a 5 minute run is a long one.  Some of those guys are running mid to high 70’s.   That seems a little crazy to me.  I feel good about the safety of the pro v.

I started with a 23 P but it was too much.

Motor couldn't spin it.

Dropped to a 21 Tempest Plus and never looked back.

Does what I need calm & rough water.

Not sure what a IPS2 hull would do at 70 plus.

But I'd need 300 hp to even find out.

wait what ?

Yeah, that is what I thought I would need for this boat.  I really don’t want to throw down $600 on another prop and I am happy enough with this one.  If, and I really hope not, I torch this one, I think I would get that 21 Tempest.  Sounds like a good one.
I really wonder how that boat would react at 70 mph.  I think it would be more steady than a glass bass hull with just the prop in the water chine walking.   It would be interesting to know how fast they have had a pro v going.  With your experience, you would be a good test pilot!!  ?

I applaud you for knowing how your engine should be ran.   Way too many people say "boat engines are supposed to be ran wide open".   Your Pro XS (and my 50 efi) get really rich past 85% throttle.....or about 5000 rpm.   This wastes fuel and isn't good for the engine either.

I enjoyed the video @A-Jay, nothing like it. As you said in the title “When it’s right- Its right”. But you gotta admit the first smile of the morning, both mentally and on one’s face, is the sound of the ProXS firing up and grumbling to announce “We’re going fishing!”
