Super User gim Posted December 1, 2023 Super User Posted December 1, 2023 If the Niners are able to beat the eagles on Sunday, the following Sunday the eagles visit Dallas. That could be monumental if the Cowboys are only a game behind when they play. Obviously a big “if” though. When they played in Philly a month ago it was a very close game. If I remember correctly, the cowboys had an overturned TD and then Prescott stepped out of bounds on a 2 pt conversion. That was the difference in the game. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted December 1, 2023 Super User Posted December 1, 2023 This week's game will pretty much seal the deal for the Eagles having top seed and a bye in the NFC if they win. About as important a regular season game as there can be really. I am not a fan at all of the scheduling though. We will be facing san fran and then dallas after they both played thursday night the week before which gives them a bunch more rest. Quote

No complaints here when the Niners were enjoying a turkey dinner on a short week up in the Pacific Northwest. After this Sundays game, I just don’t know how the Niners would get the #1 seed with their 3 losses given Philly’s remaining schedule. And last night’s game some head shaking moments for me regarding the number of penalties not to mention Seattle having to score three times with 7 seconds left in the half before it finally counted. Seahawks have been in a downward spiral, losing 4 of their last 5 games. Beating them is not exactly something to brag about. Quote

Super User Darren. Posted December 2, 2023 Super User Posted December 2, 2023 Great weekend ahead! Bills bye = no stress, no loss. Next up, fixing 13 seconds in Arrowhead. 🤞 Probably go play some disc golf!🥏 1 Quote

Yeah it was a short week then rewarded by a big game rematch with extra rest. Not the team's fault, just seems to happen often for the eagles. Quote

I can understand but it’s kinda difficult to say it’s had that much of an impact given Philly is 10-1 with the best record in the league. It’s when the bye week is scheduled early in the season like week 4 or 5 that’s questionable in my opinion. Anyway, game is in a little bit so good luck to you and your eagles and I’ll catch you on the flip side. Go Niners 1 Quote
JohnFromLisbon Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 My relationship with New England this season. But you know what? With Zappe out there instead of Mac for the first time in a long time I'm not angry, just disappointed. 2 Quote

One of the best sitcoms of all time. Second, as a Bills fan, I kind of relish in NE fan disappointment given y'all steamrolled the league for the early 2000s, not to mention Brady's disgusting record against my Bills. I would love to say ... "I feel bad for you guys" ... but ... nah. 😆 3 Quote
Super User gim Posted December 4, 2023 Super User Posted December 4, 2023 @Darren. I don’t feel bad for the Patriots either. I often wondered if their dynasty was mostly due to Belicheck or Brady. We have our answer now. 2 1 Quote
JohnFromLisbon Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 @Darren. honestly… I get that. I started watching football in my mid teens so I know we were spoiled for 20 years. Take baseball for example. I started rooting for the Sox during the Grady Little years and I definitely remember the Bobby Valentine era. And soccer? Don’t even get me started about Benfica. I think that got me ready for where the Pats are at, to be honest. And I’m here for it. Also… Man, I loved that show. Dewey had some of the best lines. 2 Quote

Greatest sitcom brothers. Hal and Lois, greatest sitcom parents. Was tough to see Hal as Walter White, but he's a h*ll of an actor. Good episode in the X-Files, too! I'm 54, been a Bills fan since, oh, maybe 6 years old. I loved the buffalo (animal) and loved orange juice - OJ was the "Juice" and became an instant fan of the team. A heart broken fan. But a fan regardless. 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 @gimruis I personally feel at the time Belicheck was in a different category which as pointed out was 20 years ago 🤔 As someone who’s dealing with an aging Father and MIL along with slowing down myself mentally 🤔 im just saying maybe it’s time for the Patriots to part ways with him. I also say this hoping my beloved Bears headquarters are reading this as some of our local sports shows are saying they should consider Belicheck 😵 Quote

Eric 26 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 (edited) @Darren. I still remember like it was yesterday getting my White and Orange O.J. Cleats😉 Also although I’m a Bears fan through and through I loved and always will respect Jim Kelly as he was a phenomenal player who was always shortchanged during the Super Bowl imho. Give me Jim Harbaugh in a heartbeat unless it comes out he was involved in the whole cheating conversation as I feel it’s a character issue even though several players including several of my favorite’s have said “if you’re not bending the rules you’re not trying” or as I reminded my little league players it’s only a penalty if you get caught when they would come off after a set of downs complaining. And for the record I was their biggest proponent if they were flagged or were being held/ slashed being taken advantage of during the games. P.S. I know that’s hypocritical. I don’t see that happening. He’ll have to retire or resign. 1 Quote

They should at least hire a GM and remove Belichick from the drafting. He has had a few hits, but also many misses and trading first round picks for five 5th round picks hasn't worked out to well for the most part and a lot of that is why they are where they are today. 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 @gimruis I respectfully disagree as the owner has the final say so and the fans/ticket holders are the ones in charge. With that said I will use my again beloved Bears as fools who will stay as they know if you’re locked into a price you might as well stay. But I will say I agree with @Boomstick as the owners always have that Bull Schiznet excuse to use😉 1 Quote

padlin Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I get how non New Englanders feel about the Patriots, same way I felt about the Cowboys in the 70’s. Strange thing is that 40+ years later I still feel the same, you’d think you’d out grow it. So if I’m any indicator you folks will still dislike the Pats in the 50’s or 60’s. 1 Quote

Of all the things we need it isn’t an old, burned out, tired, living in the past coach! We’ve had more than a few of them already. He deserves the right to go out on his terms, just not our way. 11 hours ago, Eric 26 said: Give me Jim Harbaugh in a heartbeat unless it comes out he was involved in the whole cheating conversation I agree, to a point… I couldn’t care less if he was involved or not. We drafted him, he needs to come home but I doubt it will happen. Warren and him didn’t get along when he was Big 10 commissioner and Harbaugh will want complete control which Warren won’t give. Poles deserves to finish what he started, if Harbaugh comes, there’s no place for him. I hope I’m wrong Mike 1 Quote

Everyone pretty much tossed around the Eagles yesterday after the first quarter. Players trying to get into it with security staff and getting tossed. Niners came amped up to play and the Eagles looked tired to me but I guess that happens at times. This is a rough stretch of the season with 6 tough games in a row and having played 4 and losing 1 is ok by me. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted December 4, 2023 Super User Posted December 4, 2023 Definitely a clean, hard nosed football game in a classic playoff atmosphere in Philly yesterday. The Niners left no doubt which team was better, yet still currently hold the second seed if the playoffs started today. @TnRiver46 that third and Juan catch and run for 6 was an outstanding effort, enjoyed it. @flyfisher I liked the sense of humor in your above post. I’d say security should just do their job (provide protection for players, team and event personnel from non-game related issues) and not go after a player for making a tackle, but why bother. Nobody should have been tossed, walk off the 15 and play on. By the way Philly scored a TD four or five plays later. Seattle is up next, Niners looking to sweep the season series. Should be a good one. Good luck all going into this weekend as the playoffs start getting closer. Quote
