Eric 26 Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Me I’m personally happy as I have a strong dislike for Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones alike. I also find it a bit disappointing to keep hearing at least on my sports shows that Dak Prescott is going to be the highest paid quarterback/player next season as I just don’t think he has “it”. Also although I’m a Bears fan I’m really impressed with Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur and feel they truly earned the opportunity to be in the position they are in. 3 Quote

Uh, that's not the game I saw. The Dallas defense is the reason they lost. They were top 5 in every statistical category the entire season until Jordan Love and Aaron Jones carved them up today. Expecting Prescott to put up 50+ points is kind of ridiculous. People calling for his head after he had an MVP-caliber season is insanity. Get rid of him for who? There isn't anyone to replace him. There isn't anyone even remotely close to replace him, in fact. Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat because you fire coaches, not players. Both him and Dan Quinn have some explaining to do. 3 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted January 15, 2024 Super User Posted January 15, 2024 Never said they should get rid of him, but the game was over well before they scored close to 50pts. You can't throw a pick 6, and another one that was within their own 20 in the first half and expect to win. The whole team took the second half off, but the offense being shut out until the last second of the first half did them in, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. 3 Quote

DAL has the talent but seems to lack brains in certain situations. Interesting season - lots of teams with so-so records or up & down showings up to this point that can turn into a juggernaut on any given day…… One down, one to go. 😂 3 Quote
greentrout Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Dak's first big test in a big game was against Alabama when Miss. State was number 1 in the country 2014. Alabama won. I've watched Dak play for some years now and have come to the conclusion he isn't a big game winner nor an Elite QB. But he's gone far from his days at a very nice town Starkville, MS. He should be a wealthy man when he leaves the NFL. 2 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted January 15, 2024 Super User Posted January 15, 2024 Regarding the Dallas v Green Bay game, Matt LaFleur had Jordan Love and the Green Bay offense prepared with a game plan that Dallas had no answers for, at least that’s my take. Right now it looks like Goff and the Detroit offense is carving up a porous LA defense. Good to see Honolulu Blue having success at home after a long playoff drought. 3 Quote
RipzLipz Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 @AlabamaSpothunter @gimruis I honestly believe it’s their player profiles - athletes through and through but just complete doofuses when it counts. Goes back decades - Irvin still can’t figure out how to behave in public & I’d bet money Leon Lett goes the wrong way driving & in through the out door. Jerry will probably keep on paying them like the moron he is. 2 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 15, 2024 Global Moderator Posted January 15, 2024 The fix is in! 😁 The refs are trying to hose the Lions again. 😡 Quote

flatcreek Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 @greentrout and the that same year Dak and Mullen got torched in the Orange Bowl by Ga. Tech.I don’t see why Dallas keeps him around with his big game history. 1 Quote

Because there’s no one else to replace him. You don’t start Cooper Rush in a playoff game when the starter puts together an MVP type season. People constantly ***** about quarterback play but don’t realize there are no better options available. 1 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 15, 2024 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 15, 2024 As a team where most of their wins came against teams with losing records, they performed EXACTLY as expected yesterday. There really was no other possible outcome when you look objectively at the analytics. Dak had and MVP season? Hardly. His stats, and the entire team's stats, were artificially inflated by playing bottom-of-the-barrel teams. Now, all you 'boys fans getting all up in arms, consider this: Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner had the most tackles of any player in the NFL this year, earning him a spot in the Pro Bowl. So...he's amazing, right? Well, he is a great player for sure, but the Seahawks had the most amount of defensive downs of any team this year, giving him far more opportunities to make tackles than all other linebackers on other teams. If all linebackers played exactly the same number of downs this year, he likely wouldn't rank near the top in tackles. See? Artificially inflated. If the Cowboys had played tougher teams during the season, they likely wouldn't have made the playoffs, and not a single person would utter the word "MVP" in the same sentence as "Dak Prescot" 2 Quote

Super User gim Posted January 15, 2024 Super User Posted January 15, 2024 I can assure you that if the Cowboys decide to move on from Prescott, they will not be winning 12 games like they have the past 3 seasons. I've heard the same rhetoric about Kirk Cousins here in Minnesota for years now. He's not elite, blah blah. Sure, he may not be a Super Bowl caliber quarterback, but if you get rid of him, the result will be much worse. This season is a perfect example of that. Cousins gets hurt, you try Dobbs, Hall, and Mullens instead and win 7 games. Every single Cousins hater crawled down their rabbit hole now. Sometimes you just have to take the best option you can get. Not every team can have Patrick Mahomes. 1 Quote

Peacock doesn't even have a free trial. My bigger concern is that there will be enough people that buy in just for this game that it will be a regular thing, with 5 different games on five different streaming platforms. no it won't be on 5 different streaming platforms unless they buy the rights. NBC and peacock are the same company so it made sense to do it. I am pretty amazon just paid 1B a year for the next 11 to air Thursday night football. It all comes down to who pays for it and what they do with it, kind of like directv having the stranglehold on NFL ticket for years. 4 hours ago, gimruis said: I can assure you that if the Cowboys decide to move on from Prescott, they will not be winning 12 games like they have the past 3 seasons. Personally I would rather lose more games and move on than be mediocre forever. Quote

I’d take 12 wins every single season. Because that means you’re likely winning divisions and hosting playoff games. Quote
