Nope, not at all @gimruis, but Cousins beat the Niners on pretty much every 3rd down and his offensive line kept upright throughout the game. The Niners can’t give up 450+ yards on defense and expect/deserve to win.

You could also play the turnover angle too.  Its the single most obvious glaring stat that wins or loses games in the NFL.

Cousins didn't get sacked once all game either.  That's rare.

It's obvious at this point we're all going to have to live through another Tom Brady era.

The AFC championship game will once again be played in KC against Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reed. 😞

Not taking anything away from Minnesota but there were at least 2 times they should have had touchdowns and settled for field goals in my opinion.

Minnesota won a lot of close games last year and nobody expected that again this season but that doesn't take away that they are an above average team.  We also have to remember that Purdy is still a new QB who is just now getting a lot of film on him for the DC to attack.   Normally it is a starting QBs second season but in this case it is kind of like the middle of the second since he didn't start all last season.  While I don't think the niners are any worse off after the loss, they definitely to make sure Purdy doesn't lose confidence which could easily happen after two losses like they had.

are the vikings going to resign cousins next year? Will they retain jefferson with a big, probably the biggest reciever contract in the nfl next year?

Vikings looked very sharp on offense with the rookie reciever Addison, ekler, hockenson. Hope the vikes saved some gas in the tank to crush my packers this weekend as stated i am hoping packers go winless rest of the year.

Last season was an aberration.  No team in the history of the NFL had gone 11-0 in one possession games until them.  13-4 was not a very good indication of how good they actually were.  Because those 4 losses they had were very lopsided, whereas every win was a squeaker.

That being said, they are still a competitive team.  All 4 losses this season have been by 7 points or less.  They turn the ball over too much.  Going into last night's game, they led the league in turnovers.  Its what costed them close games this season.

@Eric 26 is also correct on those goal line series.  Inside the 5 twice, and only get 6 points?  Did you see the attempt at the Hurts short yardage play lol?  What a disaster that was.  Cousins trying to push behind Bradbury compared to Hurts pushing behind Jason Kelce.  He was darn near standing straight up.  You can't get any leverage that way.  Please don't call that play again, O'Connell.

I'll never understood the losers mentality of wanting your team to lose, especially in the NFL.  There are 22 starters not counting special teams and unless there is some crazy once in a lifetime player, draft position doesn't matter as much as drafting well.  Look at what Howie Roseman does year after year with the eagles with signing and drafting and trading and rarely having top draft picks to start the draft.

Fans say this a lot when their teams are in a hole.  "Its time to tank for a higher draft pick."  Fans can say it all they want, but management, coaches, and players are not tanking for better draft picks.  I can assure you of that.  If you start to see teams losing on purpose, those players and coaches will be removed, and the integrity of the game is questioned.  Everyone is very highly paid to prepare and play those games as competitively as possible, all the way through the season.

Loosing by design has happened in the three major professional sports, NFL, NBA, and MLB for different reasons and results in my humble opinion. Just recent memory “Tanking for Tua” the NBA instituted a revised draft after “The Process” and in MLB tanking can result in a couple of World Series titles or good reason for relocation.

Great discussion and good luck this weekend

And not a single one has resulted in anything substantial.  MLB isn't even in the conversation as players don't even have to go to the team that drafted them and it is super rare for anyone to get drafted and go to the majors without a few years in the minors.

And for the record, I am a Sixers  fan and the tanking sucked....the year it started Milwaukee had a worse record than us and they are perennial contenders and have had a parade already.  In every sport it is about drafting right no matter where you draft and building a team with players that are cohesive units.  Football is the easiest to turn it around though given starters are routinely picked up in the 3rd round and later

Thats what us fans and packer insiders are hoping for, the front office and bad coaching staff to be replaced after years of bad drafting and coaching hires.

Remember this, the packers do not have an owner, The Packers have been a publicly owned, non-profit corporation since August 18, 1923, they are run by a 7 member executive committee which are selected by 75 board members. To get anything done such as firing a coach is painstaking slow as it needs to be brought up for discussion and eventually voted on.

The packers arnt loosing on purpose, the coach is hoping to save his job, he looked like a good coach untill Aron Rodgers whom is the main reason the team always had a chance to win and carried the team on his shoulders changing out of the coaches bad play calls at the line and in the huddle was traded to the jets.

Now you see his playcalling is horrendous, you need to watch the ALL 22 Tape as each play is broken down and critiqued to really understand the teams problems. They are young and our coaching staff is lost on preparing these men to be ready on gameday. Do you want Joe Barry as your defensive cordinator?

Jordan Love after 4 years in the packers system backing up Aaron Rodgers, playing all the preseason games and tons of practice snaps in 4 years wasnt allowed by the coaching staff last week against the broncos to throw a pass over 5 yards in the first half. Packers have ony scored 16 points in the first half all year.

So yeah, i wish for changes as a fan so to enjoy watching packers football, even if they lose, but this current staff has them looking inept, boring to watch with same problems week to week on defense and offense.

I don’t think anyone would disagree that 3 decades of HOF quarterback play from Favre and Rodgers is what carried that team. Now that they’re gone, the Packers are just like any other average team - trying to compete without one. LaFleur’s  success was clearly tied to his quarterback play. He has to try and coach a team that may honestly not be much better than the Bears. And the Bears are bad.

Tanking for Tua seems to have worked pretty well so far

My point was it does happen whether it was successful or not. In the context of this conversation I guess Houston didn’t stockpile draft picks while tanking after switching leagues and their organizational rise was totally organic. But I could be wrong 🤷🏼‍♂️.

there is a difference with doing what the sixers did where they openly had no desire to win and came out and said it, compared to a team that is rebuilding and making porgress year to year.  houston came to the AL and increased their win totals every year pretty much and won a couple WS in the process.  I am all for getting rid of dead weight and building a team for the future but that to me is very different than tanking.

That hail mary at the end of the game last night was weird.  It looked like that no one even got their hands on the ball, even with about 10 players in the area waiting for it.  Usually its a big mosh pit of hands and bodies all jumping for it as it comes down.  Godwin could have caught that if had turned around sooner.

@gimruis have you heard this one yet, ita all in fun so dont get to upset. *What does a stolen vehicle and the Vikings have in common? [no title]

ESPN is reporting that Cousins has a torn achilles and will be out for the remainder of the season.  Similar fate to Aaron Rodgers in week 1 with the Jets.

Cousins has never missed a game in his career due to injury.  He missed one game due to covid protocols.

At the time of injury, he was leading the league in passing yards and 2nd in combined TDs only to Josh Allen.

Unfortunate result for Kirk.  His contract is over at the end of the season and he is due to be a free agent.  He may be done as a Viking.  The uncertainty at QB will now affect how they approach the looming contract of Justin Jefferson, who has openly stated that he wants stability at the QB position.

I'm guessing they will go with rookie Jaren Hall and use the remainder of the season as a "tryout" to see what they have.  Good luck, rookie.
