Hi, first post on this forum, I am sort of in a dead end in terms of research and what to buy and how to move on from this. Just ordered a GLX 844C MBR rod for the specific use of jig and worm fishing (t-rig). The reel i chose to order was a Shimano Chronarch MGL 151 XG. I am second guessing my reel choice now, and would like either reassurance or help in the right direction to getting a worthy and effective setup.

( I have no issue returning the reel that is currently shipping. Cost is not an issue, however I would prefer not to spend more than $500 on a reel.) I am completely open to any new reel suggestions, as well as the effective line size required. Anything helps! Thank you!

You are all good. The GLX MBR844C is an EXCELLENT choice!

I have an older version of that rod and I have the Chronarch MGL in a 6.x:1. Both are great. The reel is fine for Texas rigged soft plastic but I like the Metanium better for jigs and at the JDM price, it would be my pick.

That reel is awesome. I have one on an Expride. I’d keep It.

Okay! Thanks, and what pound test would you recommend me putting on it? For jigs and t rigs. It wouldnt be necessarily for pitching and flipping heavy cover.

Great reel to match up. I’d also recommend the Zillion sv TW.

I use both with 30lb braid to 15-20lb fc leader.
