Anyone been using this bait?

I purchased two bags of the 6 inch specifically for pitching heavy cover, However they seem to be very large and bulky in the six inch length and am now waiting on a bag of 4 inch to see if I like them better.

i only use the 4".

i only got into them last season, and they were pretty fantastic.  i would send them into the tule with a 1/8 bullet weight.  very fun.

this season, i have revisited them.  i think if i trim the legs a bit, the 6" would be a sick punch bait.

I rotate between them and a Rage Bug when bed fishing almost exclusively.

Fir some reason I’ve found that when using the bug first and they react a little more jumpy than usual, the Zoom Brush Hog or Lizard using a different type presentation will get bit more often.

I use both the full size and baby brush hog. My biggest fish on them (fish in my profile pic) was 7lb 5oz on the baby brush hog, but it is a fantastic creature bait regardless of size.

I have also found that both cobia and red snapper like the 6" version. Wish they made a bulked up 8" version for that application honestly.

When I tried them they seemed to perform worse than a T-rigged craw. Could just be the place/time I tried them. Honestly, where I fish, BIG baits don't seem to do as well, even for large bass. They seem to be homed in on smaller shiners and craws.

I always have a 4 inch Brush Hog & a 6 inch Lizard rigged & on deck (both are Zooms). these will make you smile when using them in shallow cover.

I can't explain why, but I don't do well on the large size. I like the baby brush hog.

I have caught a bunch on it.  I have even bought a mold so I can make my own.  I particularly like green pumpkin with red or chartreuse tails.  I Texas rig them with light bullet weights for post spawn smallmouth.

I only throw baby Brush hogs and 1 color, green pumpkin blue flash.

Also a big fan of Zoom speed craws on a Shaky head.

There was a guy on this forum that posted several 6 - 7lb fish using baby Brush hogs...... Sooner something.

I have a couple bags of the 6” never caught anything on them,

I haven’t tried the smaller ones, I went to a different creature bait.

The 4” is great. I like the thin body as getting a hookset is super easy.

I hooked into a total of one fish using the full size hog. It was a giant that was in a treetop on 10ft of water. My partner missed the lip and it dove under the boat and broke me off. Our best guess is it was 9 plus.

I’ve never tried the 6 in version, but the 4 in (in watermelon) has probably been my #1 lure so far this year.

I have used the 6" Brush Hog for flipping and pitching since they first came out, which was before the Baby Brush Hog was introduced. I can assure you it's not too big.

It's one of my confidence baits when a flipping tube isn't producing. And, I have caught a ton of fish on the 6", probably as many if not more than the Baby Brush Hog.

I use 3 colors -- watermelon/red glitter, black/red glitter, and Junebug. I like to Texas Rig them with a 3/16 - 1/2oz. slip sinker depending on the time of year.

I discovered many years ago a 6" Brush Hog with a 3/8 - 1/2 oz. slip sinker can be extremely productive in the Atchafalaya Basin and Henderson Swamp when the water level gets really low like it is now.

I have the Brush Hogs in several colors but I don't use them a lot. I like to use them when the water is murky and low visibility to have a bigger bait that is easier for the fish to find. I have caught a few on them but I catch a lot more on the Baby Brush hogs.

The big brush hog is something that I like to use in the fall or spring in off-colored water around timber

It is a very specific bait for me but it's accounted for some decent bass

It is very popular on a carolina rig, albeit I don't use it on one

I've only ever tried the normal size and I can't buy a bite on it. So now I have to of course try the baby brush hog because everybody here says it's the one that catches the giants.

What size hook and weight y'all?

1/0 round bend worm hook with a split shot 8-10 inches above the hook. I just slowly drag it on the bottom.

Sounds awesome. We typically fish ten foot or deeper. Guess a lesson in patience. Always used it to flip shallow cover but I’m in smallmouth reservoir territory now
