Our club just fished Cayuga and we only had 1 Smallmouth weighed in, in 2 days. 38 guys and 1 smallie. The smallies seemed to be 60+' down and didn't really want to cooperate. The LM weights were great though. Quote
Tom Rust Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 did anyone see what the 40 pound bag fisherman was catching them om-seemed to me he was careful to never show the lure when he removed it. was using a baitcaster, so im guessing not a small finesse bait?? Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted October 2, 2023 Super User Posted October 2, 2023 I don't know but to me a river fish is completely different and deserves it's own category compared to a lake fish. I have yet to catch a smallie on a lake because I prefer rivers and I'd love to get a 5lber on a river.....been within a few ounces on multiple occasions. At least now I have a few places I should put on my bucket list to visit Quote

We got plenty of river fish pushing 5 lbs but they can avoid capture for long stretches , I usually bump into maybe 3-4 a year 1 Quote
