Solid body frogs turning over.

I fish solid body frogs a lot, usually prefer them over buzzbaits.  Sometimes they roll over and retrieve with the hook point facing down.  I usually use a screwlock hook, and sometimes will employ one with a 1/16 belly weight to correct the problem.  I'm curious if some of you have other methods of making them remain upright.

I have this issue too. Seems more of an issue with lighter wire hooks. Im fishing open water in rivers so its fine but it is annoying. It helps to let it settle before starting the retrieve. I also think some toads are more prone to roll over than others.

I’ve experienced this. No great solution but am experimenting with different brands and following this thread. I think it’s the strike king toads I’ve had this problem with on a 4/0 ewg heavy hook.

I only throw Stanley's Ribbit & Zoom's Horny Toad. Slowing down solved that problem for me. I reel just fast enough to keep it above water.

I just picked up some horny toads but haven’t thrown them yet.

Start your t-rig juuust below the midline of the front. It keels them up just a touch.

I actually haven’t noticed that I don’t get bites when they turn over. Like, I quit even worrying about it cause it didn’t seem to matter if it was staring down at a fish.  Boom, splash, fish.

Not a bite issue so much as when fishing over cover the hook point is susceptible to getting hung up.

Bass talk live podcast just did a good episode on these and talked about different ways to use nail weights on toads along with retrievals, etc.

I'm going to try to find the video version because I listened in the car and felt like I missed parts from audio only.

Go to hollow body and squeeze them occasionally when they fill with water.

Throw mainly Spro bronze eye.

Correct, I must have had a Senior Moment.  I'm the same age as the POTUS, so it's to be expected.
