Super User Darth-Baiter Posted July 8, 2023 Super User Posted July 8, 2023 My friend stores his boat at a marina. When he wants to fish, he calls them and they put his boat into the water. Charged and fueled if needed. It’s a great service, but it means we launch from the same place every time. The water is murky there. Heading north it improves vastly. So we blasted north stopping to fish a few places. I got 4 2lb fish almost immediately with my magic creature bait. Then it was all day dink-fest. But lots of dinks. Dinks Jack up delicate plastic baits just as much as the bigger fish. I went thru lots of plastics. But it was fun. 4 feet water visibility, high tide was at 9:00 and we had an outgoing for the rest of the day. I love the CA delta. It’s fun in my kayak, but d**n near luxurious in a bass boat. Ironically, I only brought a punch rod and two flipping rods. I broke one today, so I was lightly armed. I just don’t love a big rod selection in the rear of the boat. the scary part. My friend wanted to see how long it took to get to his new favorite spot from his home marina. He gunned it home. I’m just not used to skipping precariously on the surface of the water at a high speed. He said I was white knuckles. I cinched down my PFD and just tried to relax. Hahaha. No winds or waves, thankfully. Tomorrow I’m kayaking - slow. Real slow. im back folks. Let’s do this! 5 2 Quote

Super User TOXIC Posted July 9, 2023 Super User Posted July 9, 2023 Yesterday on the Rappahonock river we went pretty far downriver from our launch point probably 15 miles or so. We have had a lot of on and off rain with higher than normal tides that have caused a lot of “floaters” from sticks and branches to full size tree trunks. One of our friends was also out and he stopped by us and asked us to look at the lower unit on his motor and his prop since he smacked a log pretty hard running. There was some wood splinters in his intake screens but prop and lower looked good. While fishing, my partners lowrance unit lit up with weather warnings and it showed multiple lightening bursts. We decided to get off the water ASAP. I’m used to going 70mph in a bass boat but when the water is full of debris it a whole another ballgame. Hitting a log at 70 is a very scary event.
