I have a 80 pound ulterra I link plus, 2019 model that had started to over rotate to the point it looks like it's going to pull the cables out of the base, it only happens when I'm moving forward and the hit the lock, the head turns around to stop me but then continues to rotate in the same direction and winds the cord up tight.  If you hit lock when sitting still or back drifting it's fine, is this just a reset thing , I've turned down the sensitivity and hunted around on the net but not really found an answer

Mine will twist until I think it will rip things off,  then it stops and unwinds.

Have you tried calibrating the heading sensor?

I did , and turned down the sensitivity, it just seems like it's getting increasingly bad.

Might need a new head or, if it's linked to a Bird, might need a new puck. Does it happen all the time or just occasionally? I ran electronic TM's for 15+ years. The only times I had issues was when GPS signal was lost.
