Okay, this has probably been rehashed a hundred times over but what do you use when jig fishing, straight braid, braid to fluorocarbon leader or straight fluorocarbon?

Heavy mono or fluoro if not punching. 15lb big game or 18-20lb fluoro.

If punching, 65lb braid

I generally fish 15lb mono but if I’m around a lot of grass I fish braid. I don’t have any deep water around me but if I was going to be dragging a jig out deep I’d prob fish braid

None of the above?  My standard jig rod is 17 mono. If I’m throwing a swim jig it’s either 16 mono or straight braid depending which rod it’s on.

It depends on the cover, if any, water clarity, and what kind of jig I’m throwing.  If you’re talking about a typical, skirted bass jig and trailer, I’m using straight braid, even when dragging along the bottom.

17# Invisx on my normal Jig rod.  I'll switch out to my frog reel with 65# braid to 20# leader if its nasty.

I run 20lb Power Pro braid on all my bait-casters. It works.

40lb suffix 832 to a 6 foot (ish) 25lb Sunline Sniper leader. Started using this setup because of the super sharp rocks I love to pick through. Stuck with it in all cover and conditions because it has just simply worked for me. It has also been very economical, I buy braid every 2-4 years (flipping it around on the spool 1 time) and a spool of Sniper every 1.5-2 years.

Care to elaborate a little? :lol1:

You've been around here a minute.   You likely fully understand that each has its benefits and drawbacks.  And that line choice for jigs and t-rigs is a personal choice that each of us makes after trying each and adapting to our situation, biases and experience.   Do you worry bass are line shy?  Maybe don't use straight braid.  Got zebra mussels? How's that 20# braid working out for you?  Punching hydrilla? Maybe not with 12#FC....unless you are really just itching to place a new order of jigs.   Dragging a flat bottom?  Do you want confidence in setting the hook with braid?  Or the increased sensitivity of flouro?  Are you snagging a lot and tired of cutting your line and leaving yards of braid?

I use braid with jigs.  I use flouro with jigs.  I use braid to leader with jigs.

Crashing grass or pads gets straight 30 braid.

Stained water and wood gets 20 Tatsu

Rocks with light mixed cover and docks get 15 Tatsu.

I don’t punch with jigs.

As others have said - depends on the situation. 50# straight braid, 40# braid with 20# FC leader, 15# straight FC...that's how the three rigs I toss jigs on are spooled.

12-20 lb. Fluoro for 90% of my jig fishing.  10% is braid when fishing grass with a jig.  I usually T-rig grass more.
