Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted July 9, 2023 Super User Posted July 9, 2023 To me Shimano is still at the top with Daiwa and I'm a Daiwa fanboy for the most part. Shimano is doing some seriously impressive things in the lure department. I mean every single Flashboost bait I buy is a gamechanger. I saw some new BFS sized cranks at the store the other day. Gonna try their cranks in the Fall. Got a Curado 150MGL a cpl months back, was really happy with the value I got. That reel delivers a ton of features and performance for the price point especially if you're patient and wait for a sale. 2 Quote

Good luck with that. Lol. You can always contact me directly to talk shop as well. Quote

Gaslight, like downplay loss of quality as weight reduction strategy? The Bantam MGL seeing Shimano's apologists talking about weight reduction, from the top of it's 225g. The old hammer-based secondary AR clutch isn't that important up to MH fishing reels. Last time I saw it was on some super spinning reels like the Okuma Makaira. A stronger cage, made of high-quality plastics/nylon, is way more critical. 2 hours ago, AlabamaSpothunter said: To me Shimano is still at the top with Daiwa and I'm a Daiwa fanboy for the most part. I don't have Shimano Lures, but the black steel bearings and the FTB braking system, deserve praise. Quote
