BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 6, 2023 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 6, 2023 Interesting new entry in the shallow water anchor wars. Anyone know anything about them? https://store.lci1.com/lewmar-shallow-water-anchor-black-2022108805?queryID=12c42bf97371488077d6ae7f06ac2ba1&objectID=98437&indexName=production_default_products Quote
Woody B Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I've never heard of them. I (think I) like the fact they're totally electric. I've never really looked into any of the shallow water anchors. I've been told that my boat is too light for them to work properly. On days when the wake boats are out they'd probably need to lift my boat completely out of the water. Quote
Way north bass guy Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 It doesn’t look very tough. Kind of reminds me of our extremely elderly, skeletal cat that we have that pretty much sleeps all day and weighs about 2 lbs now?. Maybe it’s designed mainly for smaller tin boats that don’t weigh too much ?♂️. Quote
Capt Ed Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Lewmar is a trusted salt water brand. Their anchor and anchor windlass models are among the best. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted July 7, 2023 Super User Posted July 7, 2023 Never heard of them before, but it looks interesting. They seem to be pretty proud of their 8 second deployment time, which to me doesn't seem very fast. I also don't know how I feel about the all electric design on a Power Pole styled unit. Having experience with the design, the hydraulic factor allows a cushioning force as the hull reacts to waves and allow you to stay anchored even on hard bottom as they continue to provide a downward force as the hull rises over a wave. If the actuator is static, as the hull goes up, the spike would only be held at a constant distance below the hull where it would lift off the bottom if too big of wave rolls under the hull. Maybe they thought of that, we'll have to wait and see. Quote
