Super User gim Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 The annual Nathan's hot dog eating contest at Coney Island had a rain delay earlier and it's currently now airing live on espn2. Joey Chestnut is ahead by 10 against the next closest competitor. The record is 76 dogs in 10 minutes, held by Chestnut. Its painful to watch these guys dunk such a nationally treasured 4th of July food in water and slurp it down lol. How many hot dogs do you think you could eat in 10 minutes? I think I could do about 10. Average one per minute. 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 Zero, I ate them as a kid, then as an adult I learned how and what they were made of ? 1 1 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Have you ever seen the movie “the great outdoors “ with John Candy ? Every time I see someone eating a hotdog I think about those raccoons. 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 Rain delay ~ Don't they dunk them in water anyway ? I get nauseaus just watch that insanity. ? A-Jay 1 4 Quote

Super User Jar11591 Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 I’d be good for 2 in 10 minutes if I don’t want to choke to death. I don’t understand how those people don’t die. 2 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 I like the occasional dog, but the Nathan's contest is just insanity. How many in 10 minutes? 2 - that's my limit of dogs in one sitting. 1 Quote

They just interviewed Chestnut and he said "I feel great. Gonna have a few beers later." Dude's a machine. 1 1 Quote

Super User Mobasser Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 I can't watch it. I can only eat one hot dog, and I prefer it roasted over a campfire. That's my limit. That guy will pay for this at some point. 2 Quote
Solution VolFan Posted July 4, 2023 Solution Posted July 4, 2023 It’s fun to watch the start but then it just gets disgusting. You can see the pain on their faces as the cram it down. 60 dogs is about 16,000 calories- about 8 days worth of eating in 10 minutes. Yowzah! It’s weirdly impressive but I always go back to the saying - Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. btw - I could probably get a dozen in in ten minutes. Not proud of it; it just is. 4 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 It’s pretty gross. I am not sure how many I could eat. I’d say 5-6 maybe? Get me drunk then who knows. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 @gimruis If I double up on the omeprazole then maybe I can do 3 without choking to death lol 1 1 Quote

Super User Jig Man Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 That is one thing that I don’t ever eat. Even as a kid I never liked them. Now give me a good ribeye or KC strip and no telling how much I could put away. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted July 4, 2023 Global Moderator Posted July 4, 2023 I could probably put down 5-6. Sunday was 6poundbass’s birthday and we had hotdogs. Yesterday morning he and I went fishing. His breakfast at 6:30am…. Hotdogs w/ ketchup and mustard and washed is down with a big glass of OJ. ? 3 2 Quote

Super User GreenPig Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 I can eat enough hotdogs. My 260 lbs isn't sustainable without sufficient caloric intake. 4 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 10 hot dogs at one sitting, My target only needs to be a keyhole . . . ? A-Jay Quote
ironbjorn Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Best I've ever done is 2 brats and a burger at a cookout, and then 2 more brats later that night from the leftovers. And I regretted every bit of it. I couldn't imagine how long it takes these guys to digest all of that food. Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted July 4, 2023 Super User Posted July 4, 2023 2. I seem to have a mental limit of 2 all my life. Quote

volzfan59 Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 I know what they are, and what they're made of but I don't care, hot dogs are one of my favorite foods. I prefer a Nathan's or Hebrew National, but they're all good. I could eat more than two in 10 minutes, but like my friend @MN Fisher, that's all I'm going to eat. My favorite way to eat them is either a chili dog or a slaw dog. 1 Quote
