Trying to figure out why the new Tatula 100 is 30 doll hairs more than the Tatula CT and lost a few pounds of drag. To me it looks like the Tatula 100 is just a Tatula SV 103h without the SV spool...

The zero adjuster is an odd thing to market. Nothing changed but the addition of a flange to make it more difficult to change the tension should I desire.

Looking it over, the only real change from the 2019 version is the addition of the zero-adjust and a slight loss of capacity.

Drag is the same as my 2019 versions, with a 10yd loss of capacity for 16# test mono.

Have to remember that the Tatula CT and the Tatula 100 are NOT the same 'line'...the CT is based on the Fuego CT with the only real difference being the T-Wing. The Tatula 100 is a different design.

Nothing groundbreaking but it's got some trickle down "Hyper" features for the exact same retail price as the previous gen, digigear and double pinion bearings probably being the most significant. They definitely upped the value on it.

Edit: oof just noticed an omitted feature that's going to be a deal breaker for me, no spider

So glad they didnt make the Fuego and Exceler into the stupid ZV MQ frames and they cut some weight off both of them.  After 6 years Daiwa finally gave in and made the lower end Lts in sizes bigger then 4k.  The USDM Sol was a budget rod, nice to see they brought the Aus ver over and gave it the AGS train.

Basically the CT and 103 frames are used by Daiwa for several decades.

Oh, so right on their site, hey? Why didn't I think of that? ? I figured they'd wait til iCast to announce any new products.

Maybe they felt their new product lineup was a little underwhelming (I would agree) and didn't want to get overshadowed icast week when everyone else was announcing their new stuff. Sounds like Shimano is about to roll out a bunch of new stuff

They are releasing some decent stuff, but I don’t understand how they have not included a BFS reel for the US market. That segment of the market it growing exponentially in popularity, and it makes no sense to me to not try and capitalize on that. I also don’t understand their strategy with their bait runner reels. They offer a new one in a 3000 and 5000 size, and a different one in a 8000 and 10000 size. For some reason they are completely leaving out the 6000size from that lineup which to me is kind of a sweet spot for a lot of people that use that style of reel.

If keep hoping they do with a lineup of rods to match...

I know they are not the "same" but essentially the functionality and features are near identical. So for the extra cost I don't think we are innovating anything which would deter a lot of people from updating.

Have we hit the pinnacle of reel design?

It now has a metal handle-side side plate like the 80, 150, 200, and Elite(s). Totally worthwhile update, and if the gear-cut is like the Tat 80, this sucka will be smooth. I'm getting one.

Exponentially? It’s a very niche market and off the webs, which most bass anglers are not on, hardly anyone even knows about It.

Solid upgrades for sure, I could see this replacing my current 100 that's on my punch/frog rod.

Daiwa is smart, they won't let that clicking drag trickle down to the non Made in Japan models to my knowledge including this new Tat 100.   It's life changing the first time you get a toad that screams drag on them.

Seems my wallet is safe from a Steez for another year, although I really want them to release a new Steez SV TW.

The popularity in the US is definitely growing. The fact that Shimano has dipped their toes into the BFS market is enough reason to believe Daiwa will as well. I too am surprised they are lagging behind.

Its not a big market in comparison, but in the past 2yrs the BFS market has more then tripled in size with the introduction of budget BFS reels available in the USDM.  For a while TW couldn't keep Curado BFSs' in stock and Zephyrs in stock and they still move pretty well.
