Gera Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 If you have the means and fishing gear that no longer use or want, please consider donating it to a youth organization, high school fishing clubs or support groups for kids with disabilities. https://autismanglers.org/ 4 Quote
Randy Price Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 I've had good luck selling to friends or FB Marketplace. No bad experiences. Quote
Dan N Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 I shipped a rod tube thru the ups store , and was quite shocked on the price! it was no where near 25$. Don’t go there to ship🤣 maybe they overcharged me, she said it was a big extra cuz it was oversized. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 13, 2024 Super User Posted February 13, 2024 Recently sold some tackle and a couple of rods. Used https://www.pirateship.com/ First time for me. Went without a hitch and depending on the shipper used, it's close to half price. You'll need an accurate scale I'll never use regular UPS or USPS pricing again. A-Jay 1 Quote

FrnkNsteen Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 I usually either sell on consignment at a local shop or trade-in at American Legacy. Have given away a lot of them to friends and coworkers too. Quote
ironbjorn Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 If I'm just going to end up getting more fishing stuff, I drive 90 minutes south and trade them in with American Legacy Fishing. If I'm looking for cash for something else, Facebook Marketplace has been wildly successful for me selling various items locally. Quote

I know some families that are not as fortunate as I have been. I'll take kids out with me and my kids. If they show interest and have the means to get to the water when I'm not around. I'll give them one of my rigs I don't use. Helps bring others to our sport and enjoyment and gives them something they can enjoy for years to come. The younger ones I'll promise them a setup that they use any time we go out and when they get older if their still around, they can take it home. I get the satisfaction of them saying that's my rod and when they do get to take them home, I get the Satisfaction of seeing the smile on their face. I have fishing buddies any day of the week for most of my life. 2 Quote
