The long hair police have surfaced a few times in the "latest catch" thread.   I had long hair from the time I was in high school until I was 51.   I finally got it cut in 2015 after Mrs B said my long hair used to look cool, but it had gotten to where I looked like an old man with long hair.   I've found a couple pictures that were on my computer.  I'll dig through some stuff and see if I can find some when I was younger.   Bring on the hair police.  LOL

I support this thread 100%. My philosophy on when I cut my hair is ill do it when I'm d**n good and ready, never when somebody else is putting pressure on me to do it.

When I was a kid in high school in the 70’s I fought my parents to let me grow my hair.  When I got a big boy job with the government in 85, we had to wear suits and ties.  I was still a little wild so I grew a “rat tail” and tucked it in the back of my dress shirt collar.  One day I forgot and I got called on the carpet for it. In no uncertain terms I was told it had to come off.  Just so happened we were having an office party that weekend (we were a young group and I wasn’t the only wild child in the bunch) and one of the guys I worked with was a competitive axe thrower as a hobby.  After waaay too many Jack Daniels, we thought it would be cool if my rat tail got cut off by an axe.  We stood up a picnic table, I stood sideways to it, taped the end of my rat tail to it and from about 15 feet away he threw an axe and cut it clean off.  Since then I have had more of a high and tight because it’s just easier to take care of. ??

I had long hair in High School and College - when I got to AF Basic in 1980, the T.I. looked at me, smiled and said, "I haven't seen one of you in ten years."...then he made me Dorm Cheif.

After getting out in 1984, I let it grow again...still have the ponytail almost 40 years later...wife gets on me occasionally, but not really hard.

I got the opposite problem.

I've inherited a thick head of hair from my father and the wife wants it long.......I don't.

I had pretty long hair in my early twenties, down past my shoulders. After a summer of guiding and tournaments, I realized long hair was a pita when flying all over the lake every day at 60mph. Just got twisted into knots like the best backlashes you could ever make ?. After that summer I cut it off, and have had short hair since.

I'm the hair police.  There is no advantage to having long hair.  It's completely out of style.  You use more shampoo, it's hotter, and it's creates more drag.

I hate it when my hair starts to get too long.  It gets itchy and frizzy in like one day.  Luckily, my barber  lives with me (my wife) and she's willing to take 15 minutes to trim it back for me.

Rest assured, if you post a photo with long hair holding a fish, I'm coming for ya lol

My secondary job is the fashion police.  But that's mostly because of @Team9nine and his holey jeans.

They cut mine off when I joined the Navy. By the time I retired I was bald and what was left wasn’t strong enough to grow to any kind of decent length. Now, at 64 I couldn’t care less if I had a green mohawk or my head was shaved. Hairdos are not on my radar.

I wore long hair until the early 90's. The woman who has been cutting my hair the last 20 years makes fun of me because I'm going bald.

My hair lives vicariously thru my grandson's mop

I was raised in a military family so short hair was the law. And I mean Mohawk short. I even sported once a “technical” Mohawk when I was 3-4. Total shaved off hair on the sides and hair on top just long enough to cover the top.

I grew up in the 80s where many girls loved that rocker long hair on guys and I kind of envied how easy those guys got girls so. Some of my buds were guitar players and that long hair was a chick magnet while, I also a musician by way of keyboards, looked like I was in the church choir with my clean cut short hair. I decided to grow my hair out around age 20-21. I was  living on my own so no big deal. As my hair grew out, I discovered it actually got wavy/curly by the time it hit shoulder length, and I was kind of disappointed. Not only that, I caught myself on occasion wrapping those curls around my finger during class, lol.

My odds did improve with the ladies, but I made a decision to remain abstinent no matter how strong the urge or temptation. The risk of stds, or getting a girl pregnant were not worth it to me.

Currently, I am holding onto what little I have left, but I have been receiving hints that shaving and keeping it bald just might be the way to go. ?? For the time being, I think I will enjoy the Hal Jordan-like salt and pepper look I have. ?

My father was mostly bald.....just a fringe around the sides. He asked his barber for a discount since he had less hair to cut. The barber told him he was going to charge more than usual as it took him longer to find the hair to cut.

Right there with ya. I used to shave mine with no guard all the time but my wife gets quite mad when I do that now. My hair is an Afro so it’s quite hot sweaty and inconvenient

What fuzz still grows I shave off everyday. I don't know if I would grow it even if I could.

Funny thing, tonight, I cut the back of my head so bad, I had to call the wife and break out the ole' styptic pencil... (you young fellas google styptic pencil...go ahead...I'll wait...)

Those styptic pencils are hard to find now-days...so anytime I come across some, I stock up. I think I got 6 un-used in the medicine cabinet right now...plus the one currently in use.

They last forever.  At 58, I'm on pencil #2.

Depends on how often you lend one out to girlfriend/wife when they shave...

Save for early high school when I opted for a slick back, I have always preferred shorter hair

If you guys start comparing which shampoo gives you the most luxurious lather, or what brand of conditioner makes your hair look and feel silky smooth without those nasty flyaway ends.,,

I’ll lose my mind!!
