I want to upgrade my trolling motor to something with spot lock.  I am ok with new or used but not looking to buy the most expensive motor on the market.  Anyone have any suggestions based on their experiences?

Something you may want to consider is pairing it with your graphs.  Also another item to consider is that some bow mounts are electric steer and some are cable/hybrid steer.  Models like the Terrova and Ulterra are electric steer, whereas the Ultrex and Fortrex are cable/hybrid steer, with larger foot pedals.

Lowrance makes their own model now too, the Ghost.  I believe Garmin also has one.

X3.  I run a Ghost.  I really like it.  The spot lock is a great feature.  Like Gimruis said most motors link up to your graphs now depending on brand.  I went ghost because its brushless.  I heard Minn Kota is coming out with a brushless motor.  Its the way to go but they are expensive.

What model trolling motor do you currently have? I upgraded an existing Minn Kota terrova to spot lock by a simple exchanged part & new control module.

You probably will need a new unit but call Minn Kora & ask if yours is convertible.

I’d hold off to see if you can find any used ones. I am sure people will be ditching their current ones for the new ones coming out.

That may be farther away than you want to go but it might be worth it to call Scott or Brad at Marine Repair Center in Springfield to see what they have in stock.  They are a 2 man shop and may not be open until Wednesday.  I don’t know if it will help you but you are welcome to say Dayne Saunders said to call.  417-933-9191
