DEPS_250 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Anyone in here have any experience with the Bass Pro Shops XPS power replacement handles? Does anyone know if they will fit Daiwa reels also? I am wanting to buy one for my Daiwa Tatula 150. I have heard that Bass Pro Shop reels use the same OEM factory as Abu Garcia and Lews. I have also heard that a lot of Abu and Lews handles are interchangeable with Daiwa since they all use the same 8x5mm main shaft. Since the Bass Pro Shops reels are made in the same factory as Abu and Lews, I am thinking this handle should be 8x5mm also and should fit on a Daiwa reel correct? Description says 4-1/2". That comes out to 114mm. Does anyone know or can confirm if the handle really is 114mm in length? Also, does anyone know if stock Daiwa knobs will fit over the knob shafts? The knobs on this handle look pretty cheap and ugly and I was hoping I can put my Daiwa Tatula knobs on them instead. Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted June 30, 2023 Super User Posted June 30, 2023 8x5 is correct. Lots of quality choices out there for replacement handles. If you want to use the OEM knobs, I recommend removing one and measuring the shaft, then buying an appropriate replacement handle that doesn't come with knobs. 1 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted June 30, 2023 Super User Posted June 30, 2023 While Shimano (and Tica) use 7x4 mm main shaft, both Shimano and Daiwa knobs use 4-mm knob spindles and bearings - Shimano A, Daiwa S. Lew's handles (and a few others, ZPI) use 5-mm spindles and bearings. No idea what spindle diameter is on BPS handle, but @T-Billy is correct - buy the best 8x5-mm handle you can that is compatible with Shimano A and Daiwa S knobs. Avail makes a Really Nice lightweight handle with compatible titanium knob spindles. https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/3791 Too nice for Daiwa knobs, IMO. Gomexus offers their compatible and cost-effective carbon handle without the knobs. https://gomexus.com/products/baitcasting-reel-handle-carbon-dc Both of these are offered in 105 mm center-center, which is long enough for any 8-geared reel. 3 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted June 30, 2023 Super User Posted June 30, 2023 Good info there @bulldog1935. Thanks. I've been happy with the Gomexus handles I've purchased. I have their 105's on several reels. The carbon handles I purchased from HPR Bearings on the auction site have also been good for me. I have their 115mm on my flippin reels. They're stout and have proven themselves up to the task. I've bent a few of Lew's aluminum handles on my Super Duty's and Pro SP's. Musky and flatheads in big gnarly laydowns are a handfull. LOL. 1 1 Quote
