Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 29, 2023 Super User Posted June 29, 2023 It stands to reason that for a bait cast reel for frogs using 50 lb. ~ 65 lb. heavy braid - you need a high-speed reel with a good drag that holds a good amount of braid for making longer casts (without spooling out) . *What's your current bait cast reel for frogs that meets the above requirements ? 1 Quote

Super User casts_by_fly Posted June 29, 2023 Super User Posted June 29, 2023 Abu STX gen 4 in the 7.1:1 with 50 lb 832 braid. It casts a mile, far further than you could set the hook reliably, and feels good in the hand. Plenty of capacity. At the retail price I wouldn't buy it (there are better values) but catch one on sale and its a great choice. 28 lb drag if you want to lock it down. 1 Quote
