Wetwater Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 I have been walking a frog with my shimano slx dc paired 7ft heavy St.croix mojo and experiencing a lot of loops in my line and i have to keep pulling them out so that i dont backlash. My retrieve is a twitch twitch reel. Is it my retrieve that's causing me the problems? Oh im also using 50lb braid. Should i be changing up my retrieve to avoid this? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 28, 2023 Super User Posted June 28, 2023 I would 1st untwist the line by running behind the boat at walking speed without anything tied on for a few minutes. This will untwist the braid and when you reel the back on do it while the boat is still underway to add some tension. Learn to keep some light finger pressure on the line whenever retrieving the line. Loose line can loop as you work your lure. Tom 1 Quote

Wetwater Posted June 29, 2023 Author Posted June 29, 2023 50lb power pro Im glad you asked about the line. I just replaced it with 65lb super slick power pro in hopes that this might help too. Quote
