Born 2 fish Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 I use 2 rods for t rigs one is a 7’3 tatula elite multi purpose for sparse cover. And the other is a OG tatula 7’2 heavy for heavy grass. I like a stiffer rod to snap my bait out of the thicker grass. Quote

That rod is great in those weight ranges. Thanks. Realistically 3/16 and 1/4 are most of my use so that sounds perfect. Looking forward to the step up in sensitivity. Quote

Its in the first couple. And the discount is now being applied in your cart. I just added it to my cart and it came down to $161. Better buy it before I do. I never knew this! Quote

GetFishorDieTryin Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 If I were looking for a rod in that price range, I would really be tempted to grab one of those Okuma X series. Okuma doesnt get as much attention as Shimano or Daiwa, but they know how to build a good rod Quote
Dan N Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Can’t go wrong with ALX rods. Awesome customer service, and several different price points. Quote
JN94 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Zodias or Expride 7'2 MH fit that range and are the two I use for jigs/t-rigs. I also have a falcon cara dragger 1 that I like. I do prefer both the expride and Zodias to it however Quote

dj1975232 Posted July 10, 2023 Author Posted July 10, 2023 Received my Helium last week and finally got it out over the weekend. I am floored. Many times more sensitive than anything else in my collection. It feels equally as good with my planned t rigs as it did with a jig throwing it around. I'm not sure I'd be on board @ $400 but at their sales prices I will definitely pick up another. Thanks for the help. 2 Quote

LionHeart Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 Been using a Zolo Deputy I had custom made back when ALX still did custom. Has been my 1/4 oz T Rig rod for years. It is good, but doesn't blow me away. It is a true MH Fast IMO, and handles 1/4-3/8 oz weights well. I'm perpetually searching for a better rod to handle 3/16 and lighter plastics though. The Deputy can do it, but takes more effort than I like to put in. I'm beginning to think a Med power rod may be the way to go for 3/16. Falcon makes a rod called the Trap Caster. It is rated Med Heavy, but fishes more like a Medium. Don't let the price tag fool you. For $110 it is very well balanced, light, and strangely sensitive. Tosses light Trigs very well. Just kinda ugly. Quote

I have the trapcaster in the bucoo SR lineup and use it as my crankbait rod. I fished a lot of things on it the first year I got it and I've talked about it here a lot. For me, I think its a good moving bait rod but I don't love it for single hook applications. That said, if you like the trapcaster and you're looking for something for 3/16 plus plastic then the Swim jig rod is a dandy. I've been fishing it with 1/8 plus a crawtube on straight 30 lb 832 braid. Fantastic rod for that. 7'2", MH (though Falcon's version of MH which is on the lighter side of MH) and true fast action. Ever try the newer Falcon Lowriders? Been so impressed by the Bucoo SR I'd like to check out another Falcon. Been eyeballing them for a while and thinking of trying their 7' Med Heavy Mod Fast for smaller plastics. I fish almost everything braid to leader and prefer slower rods for the most part. Quote

I jumped from bucoo to expert and have since started adding caras. The mh/f (aka all round fast) that Brian Mdtx mentioned is unique in the falcon lineup and I would love to try it. I think it’s going to be pretty close to the swim jig for action but can’t say for sure. Quote

I have a Steez MH-H and I’d use that to throw a T-Rig with a 1/4 to 3/8oz weight (or even 1/2 in open water). It’s rated for 1/4-1 but a little stiffer than most medium heavy rods of the same weight rating Most of my T-Rigs are 1/8 or 1/4oz and if the cover isn’t too heavy I will throw them on my Tatula Elite M-MH/Xf rod. It also throws them well weightless. On 6/28/2023 at 3:54 PM, WRB said: St Croix Victory Marshall is everything you are looking for I will second this. A solid all around medium heavy that runs a little on the heavy side. If it’s just for T/Rigs and maybe jogs, the 7’3” H/XF full contact finesse would also be a solid option. Quote
