So one of my Local Walmarts has a few Lews Xfinity Pro Casting Rods in the Clearance Section for $40. I was needing a new Frog set up. So I bought a 7'2" Heavy, Extra Fast rod. They also have a 6'10" MH Fast I'm thinking of picking up aswell.

I'm looking for a Baitcaster in the $80 and below that will be decent for a Frog set up. The more I look the more I can't decide. Been looking at these 3 Reels. Was thinking of going cheaper with 2 KastKings one for the 7'2" and another for the 6'10".. or if the Piscifun Alloy M is that much better. I'll get it.

Spend the extra $20 and get a Lew's LFS. You won't regret it.

When I put together my frog setup I done it on the cheap. Cheap as in price. I feel the quality is there. Found a 7’1” Mojo 2 MH on clearance and I put a BPS Pro Qualifier LH 6.8 on it. The PQ can be had for $50.00 thru out the year.

I’m not worth a dang at frog fishing but it has nothing to do with setup. Don’t dedicate enough time to it. Fun to catch and get strikes fishing like that.

You probably want to buy something soon, the Lew’s is about $75, was $100. BPS has the Abu REVO S on sale for $65. Don’t own an “S” but crankbait fish with a couple of Abu REVO Winches. I have not had any problems with them. I use them a lot.

Good luck frogging.

I have a BassPro Outlet store here that I need to check out. They typically have Lews reels and of course a lot of BPS reels.

I found a like new Lews LFS 9.5:1 for just under $70. I think I might grab it.

I’m going to suggest staying away from the lower end reels. I have a KK royal legend 2 that I like but definitely not for frogging. Get something with an aluminum frame such as the aforementioned Lews or something similar like a pro qualifier 2.

Frog fishing is usually done around vegetation, and those fish get into some heavy stuff after they bite the frog, it puts alot of stress on the reel, you absolutely need an aluminum framed reel for this type of fishing, theres sales already going for 4th of july, wait for a good deal and try to get a Lews LFS, Shimano SLX, or a Daiwa Fuego. You might spend a bit more than you would want to, but buying quality, especially when putting high stress on the reel will be a good investment.

I have those 2 piscifun reels.  Out of those two the alloy m is better for frogs with an aluminum frame.  The carbon xcs is made from carbon dust mixed with plastic and will flex under load making less powerful when winching in a fish.  The allow m is $90 on amazon and at that price I would rather have a lews lfs of just for peice of mind since it is a know quantity.

The LFS is currently $63.71 at TW once it's added to the cart.

They don't make an LFS in 9.5 unless you got the red 200 dollar one for that price.

Ya it seems super smooth. Going to buy another from TW. Probably get the 7.5:1 and pair it with a 6'10" MH Rod. Same Xfinity rod. Hard to beat for $40 and only about $100 in the whole combo.

Wow! Just grabbed one of these, thanks for the heads-up! Don’t really need another reel but this is too good a deal to pass up. Been hearing about for years as one of the best $100 reels on market (along with Shimano SLX, which is not on sale).

Well the Lews came in yesterday and had a chance to get it dialed in. Didn't take long at all. Only threw a Wake bait. But didn't have any problems what so ever. Going to test it in some thick stuff this morning.

Want to thank everyone for their input. Going to check out the BassPro Catalog Shop to see if they have any there. Probably will pick up another one.
