What is the toughest braid available?

If max strength and durability were the only concern, what is the toughest braid out there?

Strongest is original fireline. I don’t use it though, it’s thick and piano wire like until it gets broken in. I use original power pro which has worked fine for me since I started using it over 20 years ago

In large sizes, it's YGK Oddport - 

0.33 mm dia (0.013 inch) is 70-lb.  

(since it came up, same diameter Power Pro is 40-lb)

 

In threadline sizes, it's YGK Real Dtex - 

0.10 mm (0.004 inch) is 14-lb. 

 

(Power Pro isn't made this small, and their finest, 0.005 inch, is 8-lb)

What another opinion??

 

I haven’t used all products from all brands obviously, but compared to the ones I have tried over the years, nothing is stronger and more durable overall than the original 4 carrier Power Pro

Breaking off much? What have you been using? I've never been broken off here using 50lb Daiwa J8 dragging 5-6lbers through 100ft of Lilly Pads mixed with Spatterdock and water chesnut. It doesn't get much worse than that.

Any 50-65 lb. 4+ carrier braid I've ever tried was pretty much bullet proof in all but the heaviest cover, so long as there aren't zebra mussels.

They're all plenty strong, but in terms of abrasion resistance, and just generally holding up to fishing rock and gnarly wood tangles, nothing I've tried beats 832, and I've tried quite a few. 832 is the best handling also. That Gore fiber lives up to Sufix marketing hype IMO.

I’m with @J Francho, anything in a 4+ carrier I’ve yet to have issues. I don’t fish many Zebra muscle lakes so the only thing really fraying or cutting my line are pike.

Agreed. 

 

One thing about braid is the sizes are very subjective - it's very hard to measure the diameter of thread and therefore can be manipulated by manufacturers. 

 

Pick the one you think handles best and go with it - I have a lot of different ones on my reels.

So now that you have a bunch of recommendations, can we know the application you want to use it for?
