Striper9 Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 How important is it to hook the bait exactly in the middle? After I catch a fish or two my bait gets a little torn and I wanna reposition my hook but it’s not exactly In the middle. I don’t like using rings either I prefer hooking directly into the bait Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted June 25, 2023 Super User Posted June 25, 2023 IMHO it's extremely important. I've never gotten bit if it's off. 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted June 25, 2023 Super User Posted June 25, 2023 Closer to the middle the better - gives the worm a balanced flutter on the drop 4 Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 25, 2023 Super User Posted June 25, 2023 Senko’s collar isn’t in the middle, it’s about 1/3 back of the node end and that is where the wacky hook is inserted. 5” Senko the wacky hook is placed 2” back of the nose. Tom Quote
optimator Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I just bend it in half and put the o-ring close enough. 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted June 25, 2023 Super User Posted June 25, 2023 I fish them weightless rigged the same as you’d rig a fluke. Let them fall and twitch them. Like many baits them may be no wrong way to fish them. Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted June 25, 2023 Super User Posted June 25, 2023 I don’t think there is a right or wrong way to fish em. I put it through the collar and go Quote

Just a thing I’ve always hooked through the bait don’t like trying new things I guess. I buy 100 packs of dingers for $25 Quote
Fishin Dad Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I don’t think it matters at all. Look at a Neko rig. It is hooked off the center and catches fish like crazy. I also catch a ton of bass Texas rigging a stick bait weightless. Hook it and throw it. It catches fish. 1 Quote
waymont Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I don’t think it matters that much. Near center is close enough. Try it, see what happens Quote
Super User king fisher Posted June 25, 2023 Super User Posted June 25, 2023 It will catch bass, but I wouldn't t advertise the fact that you are fishing them that way. Remember the Bass police are out there watching. You may get away with putting a Diawa reel on a Shimano rod, or never owning a Jitterbug, but wacky rigging off center is a whole new ballgame. Sure hate for you to get a knock on your door in the middle of the night. 1 4 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted June 26, 2023 Super User Posted June 26, 2023 I’m a middle-of-a-Senko kinda guy. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 26, 2023 Super User Posted June 26, 2023 I either put in the middle or just slightly closer to the node. I don't think it really matters a lot. I have caught fish in either position. Quote
