kistler helium rods [what blank]

i just got the 7105H helium rod brought it straight from their website they saying it is there KC9 etreme high modulis blanks but it looks and feels just like the Northfork composites 7108 x-ray blank i have. I know kistler use to use Northfork blanks so im just curious were their claim of trey kistlers overseas rod manufacturing to make there own KC9 blanks

I have a couple of years old Helium that is a NFC blank. I just got a new helium with the KC9 blank delivered yesterday. The blanks look identical.

Not sure quite what your asking but yes, the new blanks are outsourced from overseas.

are kistler still using Northfork composites, or is Northfork using someone else blanks and seeling them as theres. yeah gary loomis was somehow a part with them but he dont own Northfork. Just want to know who is making these great blanks really!

North fork composites is a blank manufacturer. Also, they sell Edge rods. How much ownership Gary Loomis has in NFC I wouldn't know but a good amount, I'm sure.

He Sold G Loomis to Shimano about 30 years ago when he got a cancer diagnosis and thought it better to leave his family a load of money vs a fishing rod company.

Thank goodness he beat it. He stayed on as a consultant for a few years.

Kistler no longer uses NFC. I'm guessing it's been 3 years now. Who makes the blanks they are using now is anyone's guess. I've heard Toray.

Built to the same specs? Maybe Kistler didn’t want a visible change to their rods? I don’t know. I just wanted to add that the blanks on the older and new one appear identical.

That's what unsanded blanks look like. I'm sure they were pretty specific when designing the powers and actions of the new blanks and probably sent samples of the NFC blanks to try to match.

I’d always heard Toray was their supplier after NFC. You can call up there and speak directly to Trey if you want to know for sure.

Just because they’re similar doesn’t mean they’re the same. NFC makes good blanks but they don’t have any magic. You can get as good or better elsewhere

Per Kistler’s website. Looks like they’re KC9 blanks. Never fished one with a NFC blank so I can’t make a comparison. All I know is that I love my Helium HE-TCJ-70MH and pet e-mails with Trey, it’s definitely a KC9 blank.

I have a Z bone in both blanks and they are both good. I would prefer the Xray but that ship has sailed. I've never fished a new helium but my understanding is that it now shares the same blank as Zbone. The difference being in the guide train. 

That kinda puzzles me.

Who make's the blank Trey is calling KC9  is the question.  As GReb said I've heard Toray also.

I'm thinking about one of those exact models for texas rigs and jigs. Never owned a Kistler rod and the closest thing I have would probably be a Falcon Expert. 

The "semi-conventional size" rings within the guides... I'm assuming that's like an in-between micro and standard? Ok for leader knots?

I have fished it with braid and a 12 lb. leader tied on with a Lefty Kreh knot with zero issues. It’s a great rod for Texas rigs and jigs.

I picked up one of the 7’6” helium creature, magnum worm, jig rods on the last sale. It’s pretty sweet.
