Zip tie skirt collars

When I started assembling jigs in '04, I went to my local hardware store to purchase wire to tie my skirts.  They didn't have the wire I needed, so I found some 4" zip ties I already had, and decided to try them as a skirt collar.   They worked well,  and the zip tie buckle provided support that made my jigheads stand up.  The colors are a nice touch as well.  All walmart supercenters carry these ties in black, clear, and neon.

Laying on their side so you can see the buckle.  You can turn the zip tie to where the buckle is under the weedguard if you want to maximize weedlessness.

I use the tiny black ones for wacky rigs, too.  Work fine. Will handle any size worm/stick.

Yes. For years I've put a tiny zip tie on any rubber collared jig/ buzzbait/ spinnerbait, because it's gonna dissolve/melt in time.

I've found them at Lowes, and on Amazon.

Catt suggested using zip ties for jig skirts decades ago!

Also Harbor Freight if you have one of those near you. They usually have them in black or white if color matters to you.

Couldn't say how long I've been doing this. The ones I use I buy at a electrical supply store. They are 3" long & maybe 1/16" wide. What I like about them the most is the tag end lays horizontal (flat) instead of vertical.

While I wire tie baits I make I use zip ties on pre-existing lures.

Any lure with a rubber collar gets 2 or 3 wraps of fluorocarbon and a good knot.
