Sure if you want. Ultimately you have to find what works for you. 4 vs 8 carrier braid feels a little different also. The cover you’re in makes a difference.  It it was heavy lily pads then no less than 50 and I’d even look at 80. Rock bottoms and 30 is fine. Anything in between is in between. For what you described, I’d start straight at 50lb 832.

Have you tried the Tatula cranking rod too? Been also looking for a good med/mod.

I haven’t tried any of the cranking rods, sorry. If you do, let me know how it turns out for you!

That's true. I had a medium-heavy from them that was rated at 1/4-1. Fantastic rod, but I don't think I'd have thrown a 1oz lure on it. That's not a knock at all -- most of the rods I own are Lew's.

1/4-1 oz is “normal” rating for MHF with the majority of bass rod brands.

@Catt's recommendation for the Diawa Procyon is great for under $100. I really enjoy my 7'4 Heavy.

If you opt to splurge a little for $130 the ARK Tharp rod line (hammer or money maker) are a LOT of rod for the money. Between my St. Croix Victory and my ARK Tharp Hammer I'd have an impossible job of distinguishing the 2 while dragging the same bait.
